f(x) = -3x - 5, g(x) = 4x - 2

(f - g)(x) = f(x) - g(x) = (-3x - 5) - (4x - 2) = -3x - 5 - 4x + 2 = (-3x - 4x) + (-5 + 2)

(f - g)(x) = -7x - 3

Answer: The required value is

(f-g)(x)=-7x-3.

Step-by-step explanation:  The given functions are:

f(x)=-3x-5\\\\g(x)=4x-2.

We are to find the value of (f-g)(x).

We know that, for any functions s(x) and t(x), we have

(s-t)(x)=s(x)-f(x).

Therefore, we get

(f-g)(x)\\\\=f(x)-g(x)\\\\=(-3x-5)-(4x-2)\\\\=-3x-5-4x+2\\\\=-7x-3.

Thus, the required value is

(f-g)(x)=-7x-3.

Answer: 100

Hi!

ok so the Pythagorean theorem is

c=\sqrt{x} a^2+b^2=\sqrt{x} 8^2+6^2=10

so the other side is 10.

the square 8 is 8*8

and square 6 is 6*6

so the other square is 10*10=100.

so the area of the blank square is 100.

What are the discriminants for all of graphs?
Oksanka [162]

Hi!

<u>Positive</u> <u>discriminants</u> will give you <u><em>two</em></u> <u>solutions</u>.

<u>Discriminants</u> <u>equal</u> <u>to</u> <u>zero</u> will give you <u><em>one</em></u> <u>solution</u>.

<u>Negative</u> <u>discriminants</u> will give you <u><em>no</em></u> <u>solutions</u>.

In a graph, the number of solutions is where the graph crosses the x-axis.

In the first graph, we can see it intersects the graph at two points: (2, 0) and (6, 0). Since there are two solutions it is a positive discriminant.

In the second graph, we can see it intersects at one point: the origin, or (0, 0). Since there is one solution it is a discriminant equal to zero.

In the third graph, we can see it doesn't intersect; it is above the x-axis. Since there are no solutions it is a negative discriminant.

Solve the following
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

Q1

|a-b| = b-a when a<b

Q2

104159/33000

Step-by-step explanation:

Q1

If a<b then a-b will always be negative.  To get the absolute value, we can take -(a-b) = -a+b = b-a.

Q2

Let x = 3.12789789789...

We isolate the repeating decimal to start after the decimal, so we multiply by 100.

100x = 312.789789789...

We want to multiply by 10 for each digit that repeats (in this case 3), to get the repeating part to the left of the decimal.

100000x = 312789.789789

Subtracting the two...

x(100000-100) = 312789.789789 - 312.789789

99900x = 312477

x = 312477/99000 = 104159/33000
