If you use the method of factoring third power polynomials with the first and last terms as perfect cubes (which you have here if you simply adjust the order and move the 8b^3 to the last spot), you will see that the second equation is factorable to the following:

(a + 2b)(a + 2b)(a + 2b)

And if each of those were equal to 5, then when you multiplied them all together, you would get 125.

Let x=\arctan y. Then \tan x=y, and so as x\to\dfrac\pi2^-, you have y\to+\infty. The limit is then equivalent to

\displaystyle\lim_{x\to\frac\pi2^-}\ln(\tan x)=\lim_{y\to\infty}\ln y=\infty

Shelia mixed 3 ounces of blue paint with 2 ounces of yellow paint. She decided to create 20 ounces of the same mixture. How many
zimovet [89]
Yellow:blue is a ratio of 2:3, meaning that 2/5 of the desired mixture is yellow. From this, you need to find how much yellow is necessary for 20 ounces. Well, 2/5 of the 20 ounces will be yellow paint, while the other 3/5 will be blue. So she will need 8 ounces of yellow paint to get 20 ounces of the desired mixture. Hope this helps! :)

patriot [66]
Let S=larger square side and s=smaller square side.  The area between the larger and smaller is simple the larger area minus the smaller area.  The area of any square being s^2.  So our remaining area is:

A=S^2-s^2

A=144-49=95 cm^2
