Answer:

Grayson has to walk 1.7 miles across the field.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have drawn the diagram for your reference.

Given:

Grayson usually walks 1.5 miles west on the side walks

According to Diagram we can say;

CA = 1.5 miles

Also Given:

Grayson also walks 0.8 miles north on the sidewalks

So According to Diagram we can say;

BA =0.8 miles

Now we need to find number of miles Grayson have to walk across the field.

According to diagram we can say;

We have to find CA.

Assuming the diagram  to be right angled triangle.

We can find CA using Pythagoras theorem.

{CA}^2 = {CB}^2+{BA}^2

Substituting the given values we get;

{CA}^2 =1.5^2+0.8^2 = 2.25 +0.64 =2.89

Taking square root on both side we get;

\sqrt{{CA}^2} = \sqrt{2.89} \\\\CA = 1.7 \ mi

Hence Grayson has to walk 1.7 miles across the field.

For a 4-unit class like Statistics, students should spend average of 12 hours studying for the class. A survey was done on 24 st
Zanzabum

Answer:

a) 68% of the students spend between 10.2 hours and 15.8 hours on Statistics each week.

b) 95% of the students spend between 7.4 hours and 18.6 hours on Statistics each week.

c) 99.7% of the students spend between 4.6 hours and 21.4 hours on Statistics each week.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Empirical Rule states that, for a normally distributed(bell-shaped) random variable:

68% of the measures are within 1 standard deviation of the mean.

95% of the measures are within 2 standard deviation of the mean.

99.7% of the measures are within 3 standard deviations of the mean.

In this problem, we have that:

Mean = 13 hours

Standard deviation = 2.8 hours.

a) 68% of the students spend between hours and hours on Statistics each week.

Within 1 standard deviation of the mean.

13 - 2.8 = 10.2 hours

13 + 2.8 = 15.8 hours

68% of the students spend between 10.2 hours and 15.8 hours on Statistics each week.

b) 95% of the students spend between hours and hours on Statistics each week.

Within 2 standard deviations of the mean

13 - 2*2.8 = 7.4 hours

13 + 2*2.8 = 18.6 hours

95% of the students spend between 7.4 hours and 18.6 hours on Statistics each week.

c) 99.7% of the students spend between hours and hours on Statistics each week.

Within 3 standard deviations of the mean

13 - 3*2.8 = 4.6 hours

13 + 3*2.8 = 21.4 hours

99.7% of the students spend between 4.6 hours and 21.4 hours on Statistics each week.

P (x) = x^4 - 4x^3 + 3x^2
Alika [10]

1. Factor P (x) = x^4 - 4x^3 + 3x^2:

1a. Factor out the GCF or x^2:

    P (x) = x^2 (x^2- 4x + 3)

1b. Factor the trinomial.  What multiplies to make 3 and adds to make -4?

     (-1)+(-3) = -4   and    (-1)(-3) = 3

    P (x) = x^2 (x-1) (x-3)

2. Find the zeros be setting each factor equal to 0:

    x^2 = 0 if x=0, with multiplicity 2

    x-1 = 0 if x=1

    x-3 = 0 if x=3

Your zeros are 0, 0, 1, and 3.
