Answer. Third option y=4x^2

Solution:

When you multiply a function by a value with absolute value less than 1 you get a wider graph. If you multiply the function by a value with absolute value greater than 1 you get a narrower graph.

In this case we have the quadratic function y=x^2 (parent function)

1. In the first option y=-x^2 we are multiplying the parent function by -1, with absolute value 1, then the width of the graph is the same of the parent function, the minus sign only reflex the graph with respect the x-axis.

2. In the second option y=1/4x^2 we are multiplying the parent function by 1/4, with absolute value 1/4=0.25<1, then we must get a wider graph than the parent function and than the first option.

3. In the third option y=4x^2 we are multiplying the parent function by 4, with absolute value 4>1, then we must get a narrower graph than the parent function and than the first and second option.

4. In the fourth option y=1/9x^2 we are multiplying the parent function by 1/9, with absolute value 1/9=0.11<1/4=0.25<1, then we must get a wider graph than the parent function and than the second option. Of course that this graph is wider than the third oprtion.

Answer: The quadratic function y=4x^2 has the narrowest graph.

Y = 1/4² has the narrowest graph.

When 0 < |a| < 1, the graph is wider.
When |a| > 1, the graph is narrower.

For the equation y = -x², a = -1.
0 < |-1| < 1
0 < 1 < 1

This statement is not true, so the parabola is narrower.

For the equation y = 4x², a = 4.

0 < |4| < 1
0 < 4 < 1

This statement is false, so the parabola is narrower also.

For the equation y = 1/4x², a = 1/4.

0 < |1/4| < 1
0 < 1/4 < 1

This statement is true, so the parabola is wider.

For the equation y = 1/9x², a = 1/9

0 < |1/9| < 1
0 < 1/9 < 1

This statement is true, so the parabola is wider.

Now you can eliminate the 2 wider parabolas because you are looking for the quadratic function that has the narrowest graph.

     When you choose between the two narrow parabolas, you have to look at the value for a in each equation. The closer the "a value" is to zero, the wider the parabola will be. The further away the "a value" is to zero, the narrower a parabola will be. In your case, the equation y = 4x² is narrower than y = -x² because it's a value is higher, making the parabola skinnier.

I hope this helps you!

Oxidation number of sulphur in S is 0, in SCl2 is +2, in SO3 is +6, in H2S is - 2, in S2Cl2 is +1, in H2SO4 is +6.

<h3><u>Explanation</u>:</h3>

Oxidation number is the numeric representation of the charge of the particular atom in a compound assuming the compound is 100% ionic in character. This oxidation number is calculated based on the electronegativity of the participating atoms and the valemct of the atoms.

In S, there are no other atoms except sulphur. So its an elemental atom and elemental atoms have oxidation number of 0.

In SCl2, chlorine is more electronegative than sulphur, so chlorine is given - 1 based on its valency and electronegativity. So sulphur will have the oxidation number of +2.

In SO3, oxygen is more electronegative than sulphur, so given - 2 based on its valency and electronegativity. So sulphur will be +6.

In H2S, hydrogen is electropositive than sulphur, so given +1. So the oxidation number of sulphur will be - 2.

In S2Cl2, chlorine is more electronegative than sulphur, so chlorine is given - 1 based on its valency and electronegativity. So sulphur will have the oxidation number of +1.

In H2SO4, hydrogen is electropositive than sulphur, so given +1 and oxygen is more electronegative than sulphur, so given - 2. So oxidation number of sulphur will be +6.

The molar mass of argon is 40g / mol what is the molar mass of a gas if it effuses at 0.91 times the speed of argon gas
Effectus [21]
To determine the molar mass of the unknown gas, we use Graham's Law of Effusion where it relates the effusion rates of two gases with their molar masses. It is expressed as r1/r2 = √M2/M1. We calculate as follows:

Let 1 = argon gas
      2 = unknown gas

r2 = 0.91r1
r1/r2 = 1/0.91

1/0.91 = √M2/M1 = √M2/40
M2 = 48.30 g/mol

answer yes if the substance becomes part of the filtrate or answer no if the molecule does not become part of the filtrate
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Yes, the substance becomes the part of filtrate. No, the molecule does not become part of the filtrate.

<h2>What is filtrate?</h2>

The most common example is making tea. While preparing tea, a filter or a sieve is used to separate tea leaves from the water. Through the sieve pores, only water will pass. The liquid which has obtained after filtration is called the filtrate; in this case, water is the filtrate.

<h3>Which substance becomes the part of the filtrate?</h3>

The substances that are normally found in the filtrate  are plasma components (such as water, nutrients, dissolved gases, electrolytes, and metabolic wastes) excluding plasma proteins and blood cells.

<h3>Why molecule becomes the part of the filtrate?</h3>

Proteins are large molecules that cannot pass the wall of capillaries during  filtration, hence, this molecule is not normally part of the  filtrate.
