a 100g sample of material requires 5104.5 joules of heat energy to raise its temperature from 20 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees C
levacccp [35]

Answer: 0.85075J/g.K

Explanation:

Mass of the material = 100g

Energy (Q) = 5104.5J

T1 = 20°C = 293K

T2 = 80°C = 353K

Formula for heat energy (Q) = mc ∇T

Q = mc∇T

∇T = T2 - T1

∇T = 353K - 293K = 60K

Q = mc∇T

C = Q / m∇T

C = (5104.5) / (100 * 60)

C = 0.85075 J/gK

The specific heat capacity of the material is 0.85075J/gK.

What occurs when an atom of chlorine forms a chloride ion?
dimulka [17.4K]
The answer is B. The chlorine has 7 electrons at the outer shell. So it will gain one electron to become stable when forms a chloride ion. And the gained electron will stay at the outer shell. So the radius becomes larger.

How many grams of iron (Fe) will be produced if you start with 3.65 liters of carbon monoxide gas (CO) at STP?
iogann1982 [59]
The balanced equation for the above reaction is as follows;
Fe₂O₃ + 3 CO --> 2 Fe + 3 CO₂
stoichiometry of CO to Fe is 3:2
molar volume states that 1 mol of any gas occupies a volume of 22.4 L
If 22.4 L contains 1 mol of CO
Then 3.65 L contains - 1/22.4 x 3.65 = 0.16 mol
3 mol of CO forms 2 mol of Fe
Then 0.16 mol of CO forms - 2/3 x 0.16 = 0.1067 mol of Fe
Therefore mass of Fe produced - 0.1067 mol x 55.8 g/mol = 5.95 g

Calculate the percentage by mass of oxygen in Al2(SO4)3 (Al=27, S=32,O= 16) PLEASE SHOW FULL WORKING
White raven [17]

Answer:

There is 61.538% oxygen in Al2(SO4)3.

Explanation:

Wt Of oxygen in the compound = 12*16 = 192 amu.

Total Wt. Of the compound = 2*12+3*32+12*16 = 312 amu.

Thus, percent of oxygen = Wt of oxygen/total Wt. Of compound *100

= 192/312 * 100=61.538 %

What are some possible consequences if transgenic salmon would escape from their pens into the ocean population?
Elenna [48]

Answer:

In this fragile environment, genetically engineered fish would compete with their wild counterparts for food and space, and could even potentially interbreed with them. They will also bring new diseases and cause changes to basic food webs and ecosystem processes that are difficult to anticipate.
