Answer and Explanation:

Easter Island, a small island of around 64 square miles, has been a mystery for many scientists who study the changes on the past and current biodiversity abundance. According to research, this island used to be extremely diverse in species of fauna and flora, especially the latter. However, it is now composed of few species of invertebrates and little to almost no vegetation. This occured due to the first colonizers who rapidly deforested the region.

Research suggests that, apart from this deforestation, which caused the decline of wildlife species that depended on shrubs and palm trees, Polynesian colonisers introduced the Polynesian rat, which consumed almost all of the trees that were present in the island, leading to the absence of their regeneration.

Which word equation summarizes the dehydration of a carbohydrate?
amm1812

Answer:

The word Glycosydic linkage summarizes the dehydration of carbohydrate.

Explanation:

Dehydration means elimination of water. During glycosydic linkage two Monosaccharides are linked with each other by the elimination of one molecule of water.

For exam in maltose two glucose molecules are linked with each other in which the -OH group of C4 atom of one glucose molecule interact with the -OH group of C1 carbon of another glucose molecule resulting in the formation of Alpha 1,4 glycosydic bond.

In the absence of oxygen, what is the net gain of ATP for each glucose molecule that enters glycolysis?
Naily [24]

Answer:

2 molecules of ATP

Explanation:

Glycolysis is the anaerobic process (no oxygen required) used in the breakdown of glucose to extract energy. It occurs in the cytoplasm of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. It is the first step of cellular respiration.

Glycolysis is subdivided into two phases: the first phase uses energy (ATP), while the second phase produces it together with pyruvate and NADH.

Two molecules of ATP are required for the first stage of glycolysis, while 4 ATP molecules and 2 NADH molecules are formed in the second stage.
