For what value of y is p parallel to q?

Answer:

y = 16

Again, let me know if you don't see how they are supplementary

Step-by-step explanation:

This looked super overwhelming when I first looked at it.  Thankfully it's actually pretty simple.

We want p and q to be parallel and want to deal with y.  Well both of those are on n as the transversal, so we can pretend m doesn't exist.  The two angles labeled are supplementary to each other, if you cannot tell that let me know, but adding the two together make 180.

So you just need to solve 6y+12+4y+8=180

6y+12+4y+8=180

10y + 20 = 180

10y = 160

y = 16

Again, let me know if you don't see how they are supplementary

What is the simplified expression in standard form
Schach [20]

Answer:

\boxed{\sf - 2 {p}^{2}  - 11p - 35}

Step-by-step explanation:

\sf \implies - 2 {(p + 4)}^{2}  - 3 + 5p \\  \\  \sf \implies  - 2( {p}^{2}  + 2(p)(4) +  {4}^{2} ) - 3 + 5p \\  \\  \sf \implies  - 2( {p}^{2}  + 8p + 16) - 3 + 5p \\  \\  \sf \implies (( - 2) \times  {p}^{2} ) + (( - 2) \times 8p) + ( ( - 2) \times 16) - 3 + 5p \\  \\  \sf \implies  (- 2 {p}^{2} ) + ( - 16p ) + (- 32) - 3 + 5p \\  \\  \sf \implies  - 2 {p}^{2}  - 16p - 32 - 3 + 5p \\  \\  \sf \implies  - 2 {p}^{2} +   (- 16p + 5p) + ( - 32 - 3) \\  \\  \sf \implies  - 2 {p}^{2}  - 11p - 35

HELPPPPPPP ME PLEASE!!!!!
Snowcat [4.5K]
You can see that the two angles (38° and 7) form a line or 180°. So, angle 7 and 38° must add to 180°. So, angle 7 is:
180-38 = 142

Your answer is 142°.
