A researcher interested in Springfield citizens' shopping habits surveys a randomly selected group of 200 Walmart shoppers. 76%

of those surveyed indicated that price was more important to them than where an item was produced. The researcher concluded that "about three quarters of the people in Springfield are more concerned with cost than where an item is made."This conclusion might be invalid because:

Answer and Explanation: The results of the survey would not be accurate to the whole of springfield, as the sample was not a random sample. A random sample is where each person in a given area (Springfield in this case) has an equal chance of being surveyed. In this case, only walmart shoppers were surveyed. Therefor, the results can only apply to shoppers at walmart, not the whole of Springfield.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a researcher interested in Springfield citizens' shopping habits surveys a randomly selected group of 200 Walmart shoppers. 76% of those surveyed indicated that price was more important to them than where an item was produced.

H_0: p=0.75\\H_a: p

(One tailed test)

Sample proportion p = 0.76

p difference = 0.01

Std error = \sqrt{\frac{pq}{n} } =\sqrt{\frac{0.75(0.25)}{200} } \\=0.0433

Test statistic z = p difference / std error = \frac{0.01}{0.0433} =0.23

p value = 0.409

Since p >0.05 we accept null hypothesis.

There is no statistical evidence to prove that proportion >3/4 or 0.75

Graph the line y = kx +1 if it is known that the point M belongs to it: M(1,3)
tigry1 [53]

Answer:

M(x,y) = (1,3) belongs to the line y = 2\cdot x +1. Please see attachment below to know the graph of the line.

Step-by-step explanation:

From Analytical Geometry we know that a line is represented by this formula:

y=k\cdot x + b

Where:

x - Independent variable, dimensionless.

y - Dependent variable, dimensionless.

k - Slope, dimensionless.

b - y-Intercept, dimensionless.

If we know that b = 1, x = 1 and y = 3, then we clear slope and solve the resulting expression:

k = \frac{y-b}{x}

k = \frac{3-1}{1}

k = 2

Then, we conclude that point M(x,y) = (1,3) belongs to the line y = 2\cdot x +1, whose graph is presented below.

A straight line that is parallel to one of the sides of a given triangle intersects its other two sides (or their extensions) an
timurjin [86]

Answer:

We know that this triangle is similar because it will have all of the same angles as the first triangle. This is because two parallel lines cut by a transversal will create the same angles. In addition, they share the final angle because we are not changing that angle. Therefore, all 3 are the same, which makes them similar triangles.
