A hollow cubical box is 0.221 m on an edge. This box is floating in a lake with 1/4 of its height beneath the surface. The walls

of the box have a negligible thickness. Water is poured into the box. What is the depth of the water in the box at the instant the box begins to sink

Answer:

3/4 filled with water

Explanation:

x = Fraction of box filled

g = Acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

\rho_w = Density of water

V = Volume of water

Weight of empty box is equal to the weight of the water displaced

W_b=\frac{1}{4}V\times \rho_wg

As all the forces are conserved

W_b+xV\rho_wg=V\rho_wg\\\Rightarrow \frac{1}{4}V\times \rho_wg+xV\rho_wg=V\rho_wg\\\Rightarrow \frac{1}{4}+x=1\\\Rightarrow x=1-\frac{1}{4}\\\Rightarrow x=\frac{2}{3}

So, the box starts to sink when the box is 3/4 filled with water

Which of these experiments tests a chemical property of an object??
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]
<span>B. shining a bright light on the objects and testing for decomposition </span> <span>

In explanation, chemical property is a characteristic of a certain substance came from an outcome due to chemical change or reaction. In the situation above, more specifically toxicity is involved in the chemical property/change. Hence, when the object is tested for decomposition. Like for an example of decomposition simply in metals, rusting. Rusting a process of degeneration of metals. Here it works the same. Toxicity is how much damage did a certain entity do to the object. </span>

The spheres are connected by a uncharged teflon rod. what is the charge on the left sphere after the charged plastic rod touches
vodomira [7]

The charge on the left sphere negatively charged.

<h3 /><h3>What is charge?</h3>

Due to the physical property of electric charge, charged material experiences a force when it is subjected to an electromagnetic field. You might be electrically positive or negative. While similar charges repel one another, opposite charges attract.

In order for the neutral metal sphere and negatively charged metal rod to have the same potential, some negative charge must flow from the rod to the sphere in order for them to both have negative charges.

The sum of the negative charges in them would be equal to the initial negative charge in the rod since the entire charge is preserved.
