Answer:

19.49% probability that no more than 16 of them are strikes

Step-by-step explanation:

Binomial probability distribution

Probability of exactly x sucesses on n repeated trials, with p probability.

Can be approximated to a normal distribution, using the expected value and the standard deviation.

The expected value of the binomial distribution is:

E(X) = np

The standard deviation of the binomial distribution is:

\sqrt{V(X)} = \sqrt{np(1-p)}

Normal probability distribution

Problems of normally distributed samples can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

When we are approximating a binomial distribution to a normal one, we have that \mu = E(X), \sigma = \sqrt{V(X)}.

In this problem, we have that:

n = 30, p = 0.626

So

\mu = E(X) = np = 30*0.626 = 18.78

\sigma = \sqrt{V(X)} = \sqrt{np(1-p)} = \sqrt{30*0.626*0.374} = 2.65

What is the probability that no more than 16 of them are strikes?

Using continuity correction, this is P(X \leq 16 + 0.5) = P(X \leq 16.5), which is the pvalue of Z when X = 16.5. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{16.5 - 18.78}{2.65}

Z = -0.86

Z = -0.86 has a pvalue of 0.1949

19.49% probability that no more than 16 of them are strikes

Let the number be (10 x + y)

Then, 10 x + y = 3 * (x + y) (given)

Or, 10 x + y = 3 x + 3 y

Or, 10 x - 3 x = 3 y - y

Or, 7x = 2 y

Or, x = 2 y / 7 ( Eq. 1)

Also, 10 x + y + 45 = 10 y + x ( given)

Or, 10 x - x = 10 y - y - 45

Or, 9 x = 9 y - 45 ( Eq. 2)

Substituting the value of x from (Eq. 1) in (Eq. 2), we have:

9 * 2 y / 7 = 9 y - 45

Or, (9 y ) - (18 y / 7) = 45

Or, 63 y - 18 y = 315

Or, 45 y = 315

Or, y = 7

From (Eq. 1),

x = 2 * 7 / 7 = 2

So, the number is 10 x + y = (10 * 2) + 7 = (20 + 7) = 27

Answer

Check:

Sum of the digits = 2 + 7 = 9

9 * 3 = 27 ✓

Adding 45 to the number 27, we get 72. So, the digits get reversed.

a rectangular pool is 8 yards long 6 yards wide and 5 feet deep .convert the measurements of the length and width to feet
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

1 yard = 3 feet

Keeping this in mind, we need to multiply the yard lengths by 3 to convert the measurements to feet.

8 feet x 3 = 24 yards

6 feet x 3 = 18 yards

5 feet x 3 = 15 yards

So

8 ft = 24 yd

6 ft = 18 yd

5 ft = 15 yd

Matt invested $1500 into a stock of his choice. After two years, he had received
EleoNora [17]

For this question, the time given confuses me.  I know the rate of return is just total return divided by divided by investment, Assuming that Matt received the $400 in dividends as cash payouts, and they weren't reinvested into buying shares of the stock, then his total return over two years was $500, Now, if Matt's dividends were reinvested into the stock - and if you have a 401(k) or IRA, that's what usually happens - then his ROI would have been only 6% because he only made a profit of $100 on an investment of $1500. Note:  In the real world, in current market conditions, Matt probably would have got about a 5% return on a good stock, and Bella would have received about 0.05% on a savings account.

hope this helped you ;)
