3. A drinking straw of length 21 cm is cut into 3 pieces. The length of the first piece is x cm.
tester [92]

Answer:

I'll setup the problem and you can do the calculations

Step-by-step explanation:

Total length of straw - L

Length of piece 1 - x

Length of piece 2 - y

Length of piece 3 - z

What's given and the answer to (i)

y = x - 3

z = 2x

(ii) L = x + y + z = x + x - 3 + 2x

L = 4x-3

(iii) x = (21+3)/4 = 24/4

leaving you to calculate x

then substitute x into expressions for y & z above and you will have the answer

Se pierino ha 4 mele e ne mangia due che cosa gli rimane
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

Left apples = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

The given problem is "If pierino has 4 apples and eats two, what is left".

Total no of apples = 4

He eats 2 apples = 2

We need to find no of apples left.

Left apples = total no of apples - eaten apples

= 4 - 2

= 2

Hence, there are 2 apples left.

For the piecewise function, find the values g(-2), g(3), and g(4).
miv72 [106K]

Answer:

g(-2)= -2 + 5 =3  ( here we chose the function g(x)= x+5 as x< 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

g(3)= is not defined ( function is defined for x<3 and x>3 but not x=3)

g(4) = 6-4=2 ( here we chose the function g(x)= 6-x as x> 3)

I need to know the quotient of this problem heeellllllppppp!!!!
olga nikolaevna [1]
The only way to do this is by long division of polynomials.  That's because the quadratic doesn't factor with real numbers and you can't cancel out from numerator to denominator.  Set up your problem with the x-squared term inside the division box and the x + 6 outside.  It's quite impossible to demonstrate long division in this forum, so your answer is going to be x-7 R3.  I do suggest you learn this, though, as it is very important as you advance in your math classes in school.
