g suppose he used an alpha particle with an energy of 8.3 MeV, what would be the speed of this alpha particle

Physics

Answer:

speed of the alpha particle is 2 x 10^7 m/s.

Explanation:

energy of alpha particle = 8.3 Mev

1 Mev = 1.602 x 10^-13 J

8.3 Mev = x

solving, x = 8.3 x 1.602 x 10^-13 = 1.329 x 10^-12 J

mass of a alpha particle = 6.645 x 10^−27 kg

The energy of the alpha particle is the kinetic energy KE of the alpha particle

KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}

where m is the mass of the alpha particle

v is the velocity of the alpha particle

substituting values, we have

1.329 x 10^-12 = \frac{1}{2}*6.645*10^{-27}*v^{2}

v^{2} = 4 x 10^14

v = \sqrt{4*10^{14} } = 2 x 10^7 m/s

Elaborate on the reason(s) that matter is said to move even as in a solid state.
Pepsi [2]
1) The correct answer is
C) The particles are not able to move out of their positions relative to one another, but do have small vibrational movements.
In solids, in fact, particles are bound together so they cannot move freely. However, they can move around their fixed position with small vibrational movements, whose intensity depends on the temperature of the substance (the higher the temperature, the more intense the vibrations). For this reason, we say that matter moves also in solid state.

2) The correct answer is
A) increase the concentration of both solutions
In fact, when we increase the concentration of both solutions, we increase the number of particles that react in both solutions; as a result, the speed of the reaction will increase.

3) The correct answer is
C) gas → liquid → solid
In gases, in fact, particles are basically free to move, so the intermolecular forces of attraction are almost negligible. In liquids, particles are still able to move, however the intermolecular forces of attraction are stronger than in gases. Finally, in solids, particles are bound together, so they are not free to move and the intermolecular forces of attraction are very strong.

A wave with a speed of 437 m/s has a frequency of 28 hertz. What is the length of the wave?
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer: 15.6 metres

Explanation:

Given that:

length of wave (λ)= ?

Frequency of wave F = 28 Hertz

Speed of wave (V) = 437 m/s

The wavelength is the distance covered by the wave in one complete cycle. It is measured in metres, and represented by the symbol λ.

So, apply V = F λ

Make λ the subject formula

λ = V / F

λ = 437 m/s / 28 Hertz

λ = 15.6 m

Thus, the length of the wave is 15.6 metres
