Explanation:

An animal who eats other living beings or animals in order to maintain his survival is known as a predator. Whereas the living beings or animals which get killed are known as prey.

So, when a lion takes a herd of zebras by surprise, then zebras start running in all directions because they have the fear of getting killed by the lion and in order to survive they run towards an isolated place.

Also, the zebra's run in different directions because they want to confuse. As by doing so, it would be difficult for the lion to decide on which zebra he should attack.
