Answer:

L=135 W=105

Step-by-step explanation:

Your rectangle has two length sides and two width sides. That means two sides are 30 feet longer than the other sides. If you subtract 60 from 480, you get 420. Divide 420 by 4 and you get 105. So now you know the width sides are 105 feet long, so 105+105=210. Now all you have to do is add 30 to 105 and get 135. That is the length of the two longer sides. So add 135 and 135 to get 270. All you have to do is add 210 and 270 and you end up with the 480 feet of fence you were given. I know this is probably not the fancy way of doing it, but it works.

<u>ANSWER:</u>

The length and width of the garden are 135 feet and 105 feet.

<u>SOLUTION:</u>

Given, You have 480 feet of fencing to enclose a rectangular garden.

You want the length of the garden to be 30 feet greater than the width.

Let, the length of the garden be x and width of the be y.

Then, x = y + 30 --- eqn 1

We need to find the length and width of the garden if you use all the fencing.

As we are using the total fencing, the perimeter of the garden area will be 480 feet.

Perimeter of garden = 480

We know that perimeter = 2(length + breadth)

2x + 2y = 480

2(x + y) = 480

x + y = 240 --- eqn (2)

Now, substitute (1) in (2)

(y + 30) + y = 240

2y + 30 = 240

2y = 240 – 30

2y = 210

y = 105

Now substitute y value in (1)

x = 105 + 30

x = 135

Hence, the length and width of the garden are 135 feet and 105 feet.

Please help me <br>solve 3x+1/2=3/8+x
gavmur [86]

Answer:

x= -\frac{1}{32}

Step-by-step explanation:

First move the x on the right side the the left side. Now your equation is

2x+\frac{1}{2}=\frac{3}{8} Next move 1/2 to the right side. Now your equation is 4x=\frac{-1}{8}. Next divide both sides by 4 to isolate "x." Now your equation is x= -\frac{1}{32}

Hope this helped and have a great day.

Three streets intersect to form a right triangle as shown below. The parts of streets that make up the legs of this triangle are
Burka [1]

Answer:

70 yd.

Step-by-step explanation:

The three streets at the intersection form a right triangle.

For a right triangle, the length of the longest side (called hypothenuse) is given by Pythagorean's theorem:

h=\sqrt{x^2+y^2}

where

x is the length of the 1st side

y is the length of the 2nd side

h is the length of the hypothenuse

Here we want to find the hypothenuse.

We have:

x = 42 yd (length of the 1st side)

y = 56 yd (length of the 2nd side)

Substituting, we find h:

h=\sqrt{42^2+56^2}=70 yd

Rachel uses 1/3 cup of oil for every cake she bakes. If she used 4 cups of oil one day, she made __ cakes. If she used 2 cups of
Leno4ka [110]

First answer: 12

Second answer: 6

=================================================

How to get these answers

She uses 1/3 of a cup for 1 cake, so we have this ratio

1/3 cup : 1 cake

Multiply both sides by 3 and we end up with

1 cup : 3 cakes

Then multiply both sides by 4 to change "1 cup" to "4 cups" and we have

4 cups : 12 cakes which is the answer to the first part

-------------

For part 2, we'll follow the same steps as before, but instead of multiplying both sides by 4, we do 2 instead because we're dealing with 2 cups of oil.

1/3 cup : 1 cake

3*(1/3 cup) : 3*(1 cake)

1 cup : 3 cakes

2*(1 cup) : 2*(3 cakes)

2 cups : 6 cakes which is the answer to the second part
