Answer:

L=135 W=105

Step-by-step explanation:

Your rectangle has two length sides and two width sides. That means two sides are 30 feet longer than the other sides. If you subtract 60 from 480, you get 420. Divide 420 by 4 and you get 105. So now you know the width sides are 105 feet long, so 105+105=210. Now all you have to do is add 30 to 105 and get 135. That is the length of the two longer sides. So add 135 and 135 to get 270. All you have to do is add 210 and 270 and you end up with the 480 feet of fence you were given. I know this is probably not the fancy way of doing it, but it works.

<u>ANSWER:</u>

The length and width of the garden are 135 feet and 105 feet.

<u>SOLUTION:</u>

Given, You have 480 feet of fencing to enclose a rectangular garden.

You want the length of the garden to be 30 feet greater than the width.

Let, the length of the garden be x and width of the be y.

Then, x = y + 30 --- eqn 1

We need to find the length and width of the garden if you use all the fencing.

As we are using the total fencing, the perimeter of the garden area will be 480 feet.

Perimeter of garden = 480

We know that perimeter = 2(length + breadth)

2x + 2y = 480

2(x + y) = 480

x + y = 240 --- eqn (2)

Now, substitute (1) in (2)

(y + 30) + y = 240

2y + 30 = 240

2y = 240 – 30

2y = 210

y = 105

Now substitute y value in (1)

x = 105 + 30

x = 135

Hence, the length and width of the garden are 135 feet and 105 feet.

a cooler contains 50 bottles; 30 bottles of water, which 8 are lemon flavored and 20 bottles of tea, of which 5 are lemon flavor
xenn [34]

Answer:

The required probability is \dfrac{13}{50}

Step-by-step explanation:

Total number of bottles = 50

Total number of water bottles = 30

Total number of lemon flavored water bottles = 8

Total number of tea bottles = 20

Total number of lemon flavored tea bottles = 5

<em>Probability of selecting a lemon flavored water bottle = Probability of selecting a water bottle </em>\times<em> Probability of selecting a lemon bottle out of water bottles.</em>

<em></em>

<em>Probability of selecting a lemon flavored tea bottle = Probability of selecting a tea bottle </em>\times<em> Probability of selecting a lemon bottle out of tea bottles.</em>

Formula for probability of an event E can be observed as:

P(E) = \dfrac{\text{Number of favorable cases}}{\text {Total number of cases}}

Probability of selecting a water bottle:

\dfrac{30}{50} = \dfrac{3}{5}

Probability of selecting a lemon flavored bottle from water bottle:

\dfrac{8}{30}

<em>Probability of selecting a lemon flavored water bottle = P(A)</em>

<em></em>\dfrac{3}{5} \times \dfrac{8}{30} = \dfrac{4}{25}<em></em>

<em></em>

Probability of selecting a tea bottle:

\dfrac{20}{50} = \dfrac{2}{5}

Probability of selecting a lemon flavored bottle from tea bottle:

\dfrac{5}{20} = \dfrac{1}{4}

<em>Probability of selecting a lemon flavored tea bottle = P(B)</em>

<em></em>\dfrac{2}{5} \times \dfrac{1}{4} = \dfrac{1}{10}<em></em>

<em></em>

<em>The required probability is:</em>

<em>P(A) + P(B):</em>

<em></em>\dfrac{4}{25} + \dfrac{1}{10}\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{8+5}{50}\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{13}{50}<em></em>

The are of the shape is __ square centimeter
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

35 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the area of the bottom portion, you would use the formula for finding out a triangle (B*H*1/2) which is:

(4+4)*5.75*1/2=<u>23</u>

Then, for the top portion, one would find the area of the triangles on the sides (with two marks going through). Since along the middle is 8cm, and along the top is 4, we can see that there is 2cm on either side, so that is the length of the base of the triangle. To solve for the top triangles, you would do almost the same thing as the last one:

2*2*1/2=2

But since there's two identical triangles on either side, we can multiply that by two, which would bring it to <u>4.</u>

That just leaves the rectangle that is left between the two triangles. To solve this, it's just B*H and luckily both of those are labeled for you already:

4*2=<u>8</u>

Now, to find the total area, all you have to do is add up the areas of the different sections:

23+4+8=35 cm

Hope this helps!

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS QUESTION!! Thanks
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer:

20% probability

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we need to calculate the area of all the figures inside the rectangle.

Area of triangle= 1/2 BH

So, 3x2=(6)

Area of Square= L^2

3x3=(9)

Area of rectangle= LxW

=60.

60+9+6= 75.

75 is the total area.

Now, lets find the added area of only the triangle and square.

9+6= 15

The probability will be 15/75=

Convert into percent form

= 20%

Hope this helps and please mark me brainliest :)
