Answer:

7.9 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

The hypotenuse is the side opposite of the right angle, hence the hypotenuse for this triangle is 11 ft.

Side x is adjacent to the angle given. So we need adjacent and we have hypotenuse. Which trigonometric ratio relates adjacent and hypotenuse? It is COSINE.

<em>Thus, we can write:</em>

cos(A)=\frac{adjacent}{hypotenuse}\\cos(44)=\frac{x}{11}

<em>Cross multiplying, we can solve for x:</em>

cos(44)=\frac{x}{11}\\x=cos(44)*11\\x=7.91

Rounding to nearest tenth, we have x=7.9 ft.

When they say solve the product in the lowest terms what do they mean?
m_a_m_a [10]

when people say " in lowest terms" they usually mean like the simplified version of an answer

an example of this would be like

make \frac{2}{4} into lowest terms

the answer would be \frac{1}{2}

if you dont understand comment on this and ill try to break it down more

The computer rendering of a mural in a town’s square uses the function represented in the table to define the outline of a mount
I am Lyosha [343]

Answer:

  none of the above.

  Please discuss this question with your teacher.

Step-by-step explanation:

The problem statement tells you that the appropriate interpretation of the point (12, 16) is that <em>the outline of the mountain on the mural is 16 feet from the ground at a point 12 feet from the edge of the mural</em>.

__

There is no information about the base of the mountain or its maximum height, so no conclusions can be drawn regarding those parameters.

Why did I get this question wrong?
Vlad1618 [11]

You set up was almost accurate. Remember the arc length formula:

If f'(y) is continuous on the interval [a,b], then the length of the curve x = f(y), a ≤ y ≤ b should be;

L = ∫ᵇ ₐ √1 + [f'(y)]^2 * dy

We have to find the length of the curve given x = √y - 2y, and 1 ≤ y ≤ 4. You can tell your limits would be 1 to 4, and you are right on that part. But f'(y) would be rather...

f'(y) = 1/(2√y) - 2

So the integral would be:

∫⁴₁ √1 + (1/(2√y) - 2)² dy

Using a calculator we would receive the solution 5.832. Their is a definite curve, as represented below;
