I think the answer would be to tell her friends how much she likes being on the team because then they can know that it's something she likes to do and hopefully they'll respect that and not make fun of her.
It is true that unlike erythrocytes, leukocytes have a nucleus and do not contain hemoglobin.
I would say this way of defining family is by blood relationship ie sharing the same blood as the parents as opposed to say someone brought up by foster parents ie adopted and thus having a family by virtue of upbringing ie by who the child was brought up by.
