Here is the full excerpt for this question:

<em>From "Letter from Birmingham City Jail"</em>

<span><em>I must close now. But before closing I am impelled to mention one other point in your statement that troubled me profoundly. You warmly commended the Birmingham police force for keeping "order" and "preventing violence." I don't believe you would have so warmly commended the police force if you had seen its angry violent dogs literally biting six unarmed, nonviolent Negroes. I don't believe you would so quickly commend the policemen if you would observe their ugly and inhuman treatment of Negroes here in the city jail; if you would watch them push and curse old Negro women and young Negro girls; if you would see them slap and kick old Negro men and young Negro boys; if you will observe them, as they did on two occasions, refuse to give us food because we wanted to sing our grace together. I'm sorry that I can't join you in your praise for the police department.</em>
</span>
I believe the answer is:

<span>The article praises the police for their treatment of the protesters.

The article conveys how non-violent african american protesters were treated violently both during the protest and during jailtime. by the police near them, which could be seen in this line of the excerpt : </span><span><em>if you had seen its angry violent dogs literally biting six unarmed, nonviolent Negroes</em></span>

Equality

Equality is when each person is seen as equal in the eyes of the law. A goernment that protects human rights makes one set of laws for everyone, not different laws for diffrent people.

In the past, the law has discriminated against some groups based on their race, religion, gender, or sexuality.

Social justice

Social justice is when each prson can exercise their rights within a society.

A government that promotes social justice ensures that everyone has physical security, education, healthcare, and employment.

Discrimination

‘Discrimination’ is choosing to favour one thing over another.

We discriminate all the time. We choose clothes of a certain colour over others, certain foods over others. We sometimes call people ‘discriminating’ to show that they have good taste.

The problem is when we discriminate against people.

Too often, people are discriminated against because of who they are. They may suffer from unemployent, lower wages, abuse, or violence because of their gender, race, religion, or sexuality.

Race

People with different skin colours, languages, and different ethnic backgrunds from the majority often suffer from discrimination.

People with disabilities

People with mental and physical disabilities often face discrimination from the able-bodied majority.

There are many simple adjustments that can be made to accommodate disabled people. They are discriminated against when these adjustments are not made.

Alternatives to marriage

Civil partnerships

A civil partnership is an alternative to marriage for same-sex couples. Civil partnerships were introduced in the UK to allow same-sex couples to obtain the same rights and responsibilities as with civil marriage (as they were legally unable to marry).

In UK law, only same-sex couples are eligible for a civil partnership. A heterosexual couple who live together and want to formalise their relationship without getting married cannot do so through a civil partnership.

Rights to speech

Censorship exists where the right of free speech is blocked by governments or authorities. The European Convention of Human Rights makes it clear that freedom of speech should be respected. In a small number of cases, it is possible to abuse this right.

Amy wants to enhance her credibility with her audience because she is faced with a big challenge in changing attitudes about a n
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:    A. Expressing rage over the terrible plight of drug addicts to demonstrate her intense commitment to change

Explanation:  What will certainly not increase credibility with the audience is expressing rage. While it may seem that expressing rage and anger is good for showing commitment to a problem, a desire for change, and that Amy cares about reducing the suffering of drug addicts, rage shows that there is a lack of composure with Amy, and composure is key when one wants to gain credibility, because anger can point to certain shortcomings of anyone who wants credibility at all costs.

On the other hand, showing keen interests and enthusiasm for problem solving indicates dynamism, while quoting adequate sources to confirm claims and fluent speaking are elements of competence, that is, someone who has the competence to solve a problem.
