d at a constant pace, how long did it take her to walk each lap? what was her pace in inches per second?
a. write an equation to represent the time clare spent at the track. use x to represent the time it took her to walk one lap.
____+____x=_____

b. solve the equation for x to find the time it takes clare to walk one lap

c. after clare walked one lap around a track, her fitness tracker measured the distance as 0.272 miles. the actual of the track is 0.25 miles. is her tracker accurate? is it precise? explain ur answer

d. convert 0.272 miles to inches. according to her fitness tracker, how many inches did clare walk? round your answer to the nearest inch.

A) 5 + 4x = 25
B) x = 5
C) It is not accurate but it is precise.
D) 17234 in
E) 300 seconds

For A, she spends 5 minutes stretching and walks 4 laps at unknown speed x.  This gives us 5 + 4x.  She spends a total of 25 minutes at the track, so we have
5+4x = 25

For B, we solve this by first subtracting 5 from both sides:
5 + 4x - 5 = 25 - 5
4x = 20

Now we divide both sides by 4:
4x/4 = 20/4
x = 5

For C, it is not accurate because the measurement it gives is not exactly 0.25 miles.  It is precise, however, as it does not vary greatly.

For D, we first multiply 0.272 by 5280:  0.275(5280) = 1436.16 ft.  Now we multiply by 12:
1436.16(12) = 17233.92 in ≈ 17234 in

For E, we take 5 minutes and multiply by 60:
5(60) = 300 seconds

What prefix would you use if you wanted an answer that would be equal to 100 times larger than a meter?
just olya [345]
Well, this could be a "hecto" but in practice it's not really used. If you want to use it, you would speak of "hectometers".

if your question would be 1000 times larger, then it would be "kilo" and this one is actually widely used.
