Answer:

32.171087  grams of oxygen will react with 10.47 grams of benzene.

Explanation:

2C_6H_6 + 15O_2\rightarrow 12CO_2 + 6H_2O

Moles of benzene = \frac{10.47 g}{78.1074 g/mol}=0.1340462 mol

According to reaction ,2 moles of benzene reacts with 15 moles of oxygen

Then 0.1340462 moles of benzene will react with:

\frac{15}{2}\times 0.1340462 mol=1.0053464 mol of oxygen

Mass of 1.0053464 moles of oxygen ;

1.0053464 mol\times 32=32.171087 g

32.171087  grams of oxygen will react with 10.47 grams of benzene.

The balanced chemical reaction will be:

<span>2C6H6 + 15O2 = 12CO2 + 6H2O</span>

We are given the amount of benzene to react with oxygen gas. This will be our starting point.

<span>10.47 g C6H6 ( 1 mol C6H6 / 78.1074 grams C6H6) (15 mol O2/2 mol C6H6 ) ( 32 g O2 / 1 mol O2) =  32.1711g O2</span>

Calculate the [OH-] and the pH of 0.035 M KOH.
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer:

pH

= 12.54

OH- concentration 28.84

Explanation:

KOH dissociates into K+ and OH-. The ratio of K+ and OH- ion is 1:1

In any aqueous solution, the H3O+ and OH - must satisfy the following condition -

[ H_3O^+] [OH^-] = k_w

[ H_3O^+] = \frac{k_w}{ [OH^-]}

[H_3O^+]  = \frac{1 * 10^{-14}}{3.5 *10^{-2}[H_3O^+]  = 2.857 * 10^{-13} M

pH =

- log [ H_3O^+]\\- log [2.857 * 10^{-13}]

pH

= - [-12.54]\\= 12.54

pOH = 14 - pH

pOH

= 14 - 12.54\\= 1.46

OH concentration = antilog 1.46

OH- concentration 28.84
