\frac{3}{4} = \frac{x}{12}

To solve for x you have to bring the 12 to the other side

How  do we do this?

Well if you think about it this is technically what the equation shows

\frac{3}{4} = x * \frac{1}{12}

This means to isolate x you can multiply both sides by 12 and that will cancel \frac{1}{12} from the right side

\frac{3}{4} * 12 = x * \frac{1}{12} * 12

\frac{36}{4} = x * 1\\\frac{36}{4}  = x

\frac{36}{4} can be further simplified to...

9

^^^This is the answer

Check:

3/4 = 9/12

3/4 = 3/4

Hope this helped!

Another method. I believe it is more simpler then the previous answer as I cross multiplied them. The results just require substitution and then you’re there

Find the slope of the line whose equation is 2x - 3y + 6 = 0.
Alona [7]
Hi

y = mx+b

2x - 3y + 6 = 0
3y = 2x+6
y = 2x/3+6/3
y = 2x/3+2

m = 2/3

What is the volume of a shipping cube with dimensions of 3 1/2 feet
son4ous [18]

Answer:

\large\boxed{V=42\dfrac{7}{8}\ ft^3}

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of a volume of a cube:

V=a^3

<em>a</em> - edge

We have

a=3\dfrac{1}{2}\ ft

Convert to the improper fraction:

a=\dfrac{3\cdot2+1}{2}=\dfrac{7}{2}\ ft

Substitute to the formula of a volume:

V=\left(\dfrac{7}{2}\right)^3=\dfrac{7^3}{2^3}=\dfrac{343}{8}=42\dfrac{7}{8}\ ft^3

On a 10-item test, three students in Professor Hsin's advanced chemistry seminar received scores of 2, 5, and 8, respectively. F
Inessa [10]

Answer:

For this distribution of test scores, the standard deviation is equal to the square root of 9

D) 9

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to know the standard deviation formula:

S=\sqrt{\frac{sum(x-Am)^2}{n-1} } (1)

Where:

S: Standard deviation

sum: Summation

x: Sample values

Am: Arithmetic mean

n:   Number of terms, in this case 3

Now, we need to know the arithmetic mean of the sample values: 2, 5 and 8

Am=\frac{2+5+8}{3} = 5

To know the standard deviation we need to have the summation of each term minus the arithmetic mean squared.

(x-Am)^2 of each term:

(2-5)^2=9\\(5-5)^2=0\\(8-5)^2=9

Now, we can find the standard deviation:

S=\sqrt{\frac{9+0+9}{3-1} } \\S=\sqrt{\frac{18}{2} } \\S=\sqrt{9}

The standard deviation is equal to the square root of 9
