A radar gun was used to record the speed of a swimmer (in meters per second) during selected times in the first 2 seconds of a r

ace. Use a trapezoidal sum with 4 intervals to estimate the distance the swimmer covered during those 2 seconds. Give a 2 decimal place answer and include units.

Trapezoidal is involving averageing the heights
the 4 intervals are
[0,4] and [4,7.2] and [7.2,8.6] and [8.6,9]

the area of each trapezoid is (v(t1)+v(t2))/2 times width

for the first interval
the average between 0 and 0.4 is 0.2
the width is 4
4(0.2)=0.8

2nd
average between 0.4 and 1 is 0.7
width is 3.2
3.2 times 0.7=2.24

3rd
average betwen 1.0 and 1.5 is 1.25
width is 1.4
1.4 times 1.25=1.75

4th
average betwen 1.5 and 2 is 1.75
width is 0.4
0.4 times 1.74=0.7

add them all up
0.8+2.24+1.75+0.7=5.49

5.49
t=time
v(t)=speed
so the area under the curve is distance
covered 5.49 meters

X²+y²-6x+14y-1=0<br> and please show your work so I can learn
Eva8 [605]

Hello there,

I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy during this winter season.

x^2 + y^2 -6x+14y-1=0

We need to use the Quadratic Formula*

x =\frac{-b+\sqrt{b^2}-4ac }{2a} , \frac{-b-\sqrt{b^2} -4ac }{2a}

Thus, given the problem:

a = 1, b=-6, c=y^2+14y-1

So now we just need to plug them in the Quadratic Formula*

x=\frac{6+2\sqrt{(-6)^2-4(y^2+14y-1)} }{2} , x=\frac{6-\sqrt{(-6)^2-4(y^2+14y-1)} }{2}

As you can see, it is a mess right now. Therefore, we need to simplify it

x=\frac{6+2\sqrt{10-y^2-14y} }{2}, x = \frac{6-2\sqrt{10-y^2-14y} }{2}

Now that's get us to the final solution:

x=3+\sqrt{10-y^2-14y}, x=3-\sqrt{10-y^2-14y}

It is my pleasure to help students like you! If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Take care!

What is the measure of
Kamila [148]

Answer:

64.4

Step-by-step explanation:

In one of the trig formulas, it states    sin <a/A = sin<b/B = sin<c/C

So we have in this case:

sin(70)/12 = sin x/14           Note: x is just a variable for the angle <ABC

14(sin70)/12 = sin x

sin^-1(14(sin70)/12) = x

x=64.4

Your welcome, and comment if you have any questions! :D

a truck that can carry no more than 6400 lb is being used to transport refrigerators and upright pianos. Each refrigerator weigh
Tems11 [23]
I'm not going to do the entire question, but I'll do the first part.

For the first part, you have to set up an inequality. Use context clues, such as no more than (the one used in this sentence) to figure out what the symbol should be for the inequality.
In this case, because it is NO MORE THAN 6400, it would be:

6400\leq250r + 475p

where r represents the # refrigerators, and p represents the # pianos

Now that you have the equation, make the graph, then for the 3rd part, plug in 12 and 8 to r and p to see if it keeps the inequality true.

Hope this helps! :)
