Explanation:

To start CPR first you have to check if the environment is safe. If so, is the person conscious or not? If not, try to shake her or him. If you still don’t have an answer, call 911 (or ask another person to do so) and try to locate an AED, if available. Then start compressions: with the person on his/her back on a firm surface, place one hands heel between the nipples and the other hand above. With both elbows straight and your shoulders above your hands, start compressions. <em>Use upper body weight to compress the chest at about 2 inches, at a rate of 100 BPM. </em>After 30 compressions, using the head-tilt, chin-lift maneuver, open the victim’s airway. Give two rescue breath and continue with 30 compressions.

Continue with this cycle until an AED is available or the ambulance arrives.
