Two plastic spheres each with radius 1.30 cm and mass 9.75 g, have uniform charge densities of 0.100 C/m^3 and -0.100 C/m^3, res

pectively. The spheres are released from rest when their centers are 80.0 cm apart. What is the speed of each sphere at the moment they collide? Ignore polarization of the spheres.

To develop this problem we will proceed to use the principle of energy conservation. For this purpose we will have that the change in the electric potential energy and kinetic energy at the beginning must be equal at the end. Our values are given as shown below:

m = 9.75g = 0.00975kg

r = 1.3cm = 0.013m

q_1 = 0.1 C/m^3 * \frac{4}{3} \pi r^3

q_1 = 9.2*10^{-7}C

q_2 = -9.2*10^{-7}C

Applying energy conservation equations

U_1+K_1 = U_2+K_2

\frac{k q_1q_2}{d} +0 = \frac{kq_1q_2}{2r}+ \frac{1}{2} (2m)v^2

Replacing,

9*10^{9} (9.2*10^{-7})^2(\frac{1}{0.026}-\frac{1}{0.8}) = v^2

Solving for v,

v = 9.2*10^{-7} (\frac{9*10^9}{0.00975}(\frac{1}{0.026}-\frac{1}{0.8}))^{1/2}

v = 5.4 m/s

Therefore the speed of each sphere at the moment they collide is 5.4m/s

How fast, in rpm, would a 5.6 kg, 25-cm-diameter bowling ball have to spin to have an angular momentum of 0.26 kgm2/s
solong [7]

Answer:

71 rpm

Explanation:

Given that:

Angular momentum (L) = 0.26

Diameter = 25cm = 0.25 cm

Radius, r = (d/2) = 0.125m

Mass = 5.6 kg

Moment of inertia (I) = 2mr² / 5

I = (2 * 5.6 * 0.125^2) / 5

= 0.175

= 0.175 / 5

= 0.035 kgm²

Angular speed (w) ;

w = L / I

w = 0.26 / 0.035

= 7.4285714

= 7.429 rad/s

w = (7.429 * 60/2π)

w = 445.74 / 2π rpm

w = 70.941724

Angular speed = 70.94 rpm

= 71 rpm

Calculate the energy of a photon emitted when an electron in a hydrogen atom undergoes a transition from =7 to =1.
Harrizon [31]

1.549×10-19lJ is the energy of a photon emitted when an electron in a hydrogen atom undergoes a transition from =7 to =1.

The equation E= hcE =hc, where h is Planck's constant and c is the speed of light, describes the inverse relationship between a photon's energy (E) and the wavelength of light ().

The Rydberg formula is used to determine the energy change.

Rydberg's original formula used wavelengths, but we may rewrite it using units of energy instead. The result is the following.

aaΔE=R(1n2f−1n2i) aa

were

2.17810-18lJ is the Rydberg constant.

The initial and ultimate energy levels are ni and nf.

As a change of pace from

n=5 to n=3 gives us

ΔE

=2.178×10-18lJ (132−152)

=2.178×10-18lJ (19−125)

=2.178×10-18lJ×25 - 9/25×9

=2.178×10-18lJ×16/225

=1.549×10-19lJ

A man standing on top of a 30 m tall building throws a brick downwards with a velocity of 12 m/s. Determine the speed of the bri
loris [4]

Answer:

27.1m/s

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Height of the building  = 30m

Initial velocity  = 12m/s

Unknown:

Final velocity  = ?

Solution:

We apply one of the kinematics equation to solve this problem:

         v²  = u²  + 2gh

v is the final velocity

u is the initial velocity

g is the acceleration due to gravity

h is the height

          v²   = 12²  + (2 x 9.8 x 30)

          v  = 27.1m/s
