The Three-Fifths Compromise was a temporary solution to a long-term political issue.
They obtained permission to leave the area and follow the Trail ofTears. The trail was used by several tribes to relocate out of thesoutheastern.
In my view the best word would be ethos. Ethos is the set of fundamental values, guiding principles, social practices and beliefs that constitute the character of a particular culture.
The Freedmen's Bureau provided food, housing and medical aid, established schools and offered legal assistance. It also attempted to settle former slaves on land confiscated or abandoned during the war.
