The magnitude of the force that a spring exerts (F) when it is stretched a distance x from its unstressed length is governed by

Hooke's law, F = kx. (a) What are the dimensions of the force constant, k? (Use the following as necessary: M for mass, T for time, and L for length.)

Answer:

k =  M / T^2

Explanation:

Hooke's law states that the lengthening of a spring is directly proportional to the force module applied to it, provided that the spring is not permanently deformed.

F = k * L

So:

k = F / L

Where :

[F] = N (Newton units)

[L] = m (meter)

[k] = N / m

N = ( M * L ) / T^2

[N] = ( kg * m ) / s^2

Finally:

[k] = ( kg * m ) / ( m * s^2 )

[k] = kg / s^2

k = M / T^2

The acceleration due to gravity on the moon is 1.6 m/s2. What is the gravitational potential energy of a 1200-kg lander resting
faltersainse [42]

Gravitational potential energy is energy an object possesses because of its position in a gravitational field. The equation for gravitational potential energy is GPE = mgh.

GPE = 1200(1.6)(350) = 672000 J

Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.

If a 15kg mass weighs 372 N on Jupiter, what is Jupiter's gravitational acceleration?
Dimas [21]

Answer:

Jupiter's gravitational acceleration is 24.8 m/s^2

Explanation:

Recall that the weight under the influence of a gravitational acceleration G is defined as:

Weight = m * G

Then, in our case we have

372 N = 15 kg * G

G = 372/15  m/s^2

G = 24.8 m/s^2

3. What conclusion can you make about the electric field strength between two parallel plates? Explain your answer referencing P
KIM [24]

Answer:

From the relation above we can conclude that the  as the distance between the two plate increases the electric field strength decreases

Explanation:

I cannot  find any attached photo, but we can proceed anyways theoretically.

The electric field strength (E) at any point in an electric field is the force experienced by a unit positive charge (Q) at that point

i.e

E=\frac{F}{Q}

But the force F

F= \frac{kQ1Q2}{r^2}

But the electric field intensity due to a point charge Q at a distance r meters away is given by

E= \frac{\frac{kQ1Q2}{r^2}}{Q} \\\\\E= \frac{Q1}{4\pi er^2 }

<em>From the relation above we can conclude that the  as the distance between the two plate increases the electric field strength decreases</em>
