Suppose there is a 13.4 % probability that a randomly selected person aged 30 years or older is a jogger. In addition, there is

a 15.4 % probability that a randomly selected person aged 30 years or older is female comma given that he or she jogs. What is the probability that a randomly selected person aged 30 years or older is female and jogs? Would it be unusual to randomly select a person aged 30 years or older who is female and jogs?

Answer: Hello mate!

if you randomly chose a 30 years or older person, there is a 13,4% (or 0.134) that he or she jogs, and if this person jogs, there is a 15,4% (or 0.154) that the person is a female.

where you can see that both probabilities are very small, and are dependent, this means that the probability 15.4% of being female only applies after the 13,4% of being a jogger.

If we want to know the probability where a randomly chosen person of 30 or older is a female and jogger, then we need to see the product of both probabilities:

this is 0.134*0.154 = 0.02

wich is equivalent to 2%, so yes, it would be very unusual to randomly select a person aged 30 years or older who is female and jogs.

A side of a square is 10 cm longer than the side of an equilateral triangle. The perimeter of the square is 3 times the perimete
bija089 [108]

Here's the solution :

  • Side of the equilateral triangle = x

  • Side of square = x + 10

perimeter of equilateral triangle = 3 × x = 3x

perimeter of square = 4 × (x + 10)

now, according to above statement :

permission (square) = 3 × perimeter (triangle)

that is :

  • 4(x + 10) = 3 \times 3x

  • 4x + 40 = 9x

  • 9x - 4x = 40

  • 5x = 40

  • x = 8

therefore, side of triangle = 8 cm

  • perimeter (triangle) = 8 × 3 = 24 cm

  • side of square = 8 + 10 = 18 cm

  • perimeter of square= 18 × 4 = 72 xm

Q1.
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

5 boxes of diaries

6 boxes of pencils

10 boxes of rulers

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to find the smallest number of units that would be possible to buy, find the least common multiple between the number of units in each box:

12\ \ 10\ \ 6\ |2\\6\ \ \ \ 5\ \ \ 3\ |2\\3\ \ \ \ 5\ \ \ 3\ |3\\1\ \ \ \ 5\ \ \ 1\ |5\\1\ \ \ \ 1\ \ \ 1\ | = 2*2*3*5=60

The number of boxes required for each item to get 60 units is:

d=\frac{60}{12} = 5\ boxes \\p=\frac{60}{10} = 6\ boxes \\r=\frac{60}{6} = 10\ boxes

the smallest number of boxes of each item he could buy is:

5 boxes of diaries

6 boxes of pencils

10 boxes of rulers

I don’t understand this
svet-max [94.6K]

The answer is 1/20. This is probability. <u><em>probability is the chance of you picking a certain thing</em></u>. for example: You have 3 blue marbles, 6 red marbles, and 4 purple marbles. the probability of pick a blue marble is 3/13. A red would be 6/13, and a purple would be 4/13.

So what this is asking is what are the chances that something will happen over something will not happen. the said that "the probability that an event will not happen is P(E') = 19/20. if you are having a lot of trouble with this, try removing the events with something like marbles (Something you have done before) this tends to make it a little easier to read.
