In order to find the area of the semicircle, or the shaded region, we just have to find the area of the entire circle and divide it by 2. The formula for the area of a circle is \pi r^{2}. With the given diameter of 12, we can deduce that the radius is 6.

Area of Semicircle = (\pi  6^{2}/2)
Area of Semicircle = (3.14 x 36/2)
Area of Semicircle = (3.14 x 18)
Area of Semicircle = 56.52in.^{2}

Hope this helps!

To do this first find the area of a circle. The area of a circle uses this formula...

[pi]r^2

So substituting...

The diameter is 12 in. And radius is half of the diameter.

12/2=6. The radius is 6 in.

To finish this, we do the r^2, which is 6^2, which is 36.

Finally, we multiply pi by 36, in this question we found pi to 3.14.

The area of the circle is 113.04 in. BUT, Half of the circle, that is being shaded, would subtract half of the circle away from the total area.

So we do 113.04/2=

56.52.

The answer is that the shaded/not shaded side of the circle is equal to 56.52 in.

DochEvi [55]

Answer:

25% of students voted for the athlete

Step-by-step explanation:

First you need to know how many students are in total. In this case there is 60, 15+45

Then you write it as a fraction

\frac{15}{60}

because 15 voted for athlete out of the 60 students.

After this you need to divide 15÷60 which is . 25 then you transform that number into a percent which is 25%
