Answer: B) balance between all of the body’s systems.

Explanation: Homeostasis is the regulation or maintenance of a stable internal environment of the body. In achieving homeostasis, all the organs and systems of the body must function harmoniously to maintain a balance.

If balance is not maintained by the organs and systems of the body, a disease or disorder may arise.

Example of homeostasis is the secretion of insulin by the pancreas following a meal to regulate the blood glucose concentration.

Plant hormonal regulation differs from animal hormonal regulation in that
Over [174]

Answer:

Plant hormonal regulation differs from animal hormonal regulation in that there are no dedicated hormone-producing organs in plants as there are in animals.

Explanation:

Plant hormones control different functions in plants such as growth and development. These hromones are signal molecules that affect gene expression and transcription levels. What diferentiates them from animals is that in plants there are no dedicated hormone producing organs. For example, that plants and insects produce their hormones differently.

Scientists theorize that Australia was once part of a larger mainland area but due to plate tectonics, broke away. According to
Greeley [361]

A large assortment of plant dispersal mechanisms.

Explanation:

Pretty much everything can be explained about Australia, as to where it was in the past, with which other large landmasses it was connected, its flora, its isolation from the other continents... One thing that still needs explaining is the large assortment of plant dispersal mechanisms, which is not typical for well established islands.

The reason as to why this is weird and hard to explain is because the well established islands have flora that is well adapted to their living conditions, and also it lacks competition from outside. In other words, they rule the place. The plants in Australia though exhibit dispersal mechanisms that are typical for the plants of the continental masses that are connected, so it causes big problem in explaining it.

Why do scientists think it is necessary to develop new ways to create ethanol
Elena L [17]

Answer:

Due to the cost and resource input (specially the land) required for producing ethanol

Explanation:

In current time most of the ethanol is produced by fermenting corn, sugarcane or other plants at high temperature. In this process of fermentation, liquid bio fuel is produced.

These plants and crops require large area for cultivation and production along with huge inputs of fertilizers and water. As per an estimate , 3 gallons of ethanol require bushel of corn that intakes 800 gallons of water which is a huge cost to any nation or individual

Hence, scientist are finding new ways to create ethanol

Why
is the hepatic portal
portal vein
unique ?
LiRa [457]

Answer:

Blood flow to the liver is unique in that it receives both oxygenated and (partially) deoxygenated blood. As a result, the partial gas pressure of oxygen (pO2) and perfusion pressure of portal blood are lower than in other organs of the body.
