What would happen to life on earth if the rate of photosynthesis and cellular respiration in all phototrophs were equal?

When the rates of two processes photosynthesis and respiration becomes equal. Phototrophic organisms wouldn't be able to compensate for the lack of carbon dioxide levels. Phototrophs wouldn't be able to produce their food in the form of glucose and hence wouldn't be able to respire too. That would result in lack of overall available food from phototrophs and lack of available oxygen for respiration.

Photosynthesis also uses carbon dioxide faster than respiration produces it. Oxygen surplus is is released into the air and unused glucose is stored in the plant for later. That's why plants are so important to human and animal survival. Without photosynthesis we wouldn't have oxygen for food to stay alive and we would end up like the movie The Lorax

Answer:

Obligate aerobic, non-phototrophic organisms will cease to exist due to lack of oxygen for respiration.

Explanation:

Phototrophs are organisms that have the capacity to use light to synthesize their foods in a process known as photosynthesis. During this process, phototrophs produce glucose and other carbohydrates using inorganic raw materials such as water and carbon dioxide. Oxygen is liberated in the process.

    6CO_2 + 6H_2O -----> C_6H_{12}O_6 + 6O_2

Cellular respiration is the opposite of photosynthesis. The food synthesized during photosynthesis is broken down in the presence of oxygen to release the locked energy which is necessary for proper functioning of organisms. Water and carbon dioxide is produced in the process.

   C_6H_{12}O_6 + 6O_2----->6CO_2 + 6H_2O

Usually, there is almost always a net glucose production, meaning that photosynthesis rate is always higher than the rate of cellular respiration. This leads to net oxygen production. Aerobic animals depend on this oxygen from autotrophs for their own respiration and energy production.

Hence, if the rate of photosynthesis balances the rate of cellular respiration in phototrophs, there will not be net oxygen production and respiration in obligately aerobic non-autotroph organisms will cease, leading to their non-existence.

What is the name for a molecule that is made of two sugar monomers bonded together?
Sever21 [200]

Answer:

(D). Disaccharide.

Explanation:

A disaccharide can be defined as a molecule, made up of two monosaccharides. To form a disaccharide, two monosaccharides join together with the help of an O-glycosodic bond between them.

Sucrose is an example of disaccharide, which is made up by joining of fructose and glucose molecules.

Viviparous type of seed germination is found in
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

(4) Both (1) & (2)

Explanation:

Viviparous germination is a type of seed germination in which seeds germinates but still attached with the plant body. This type of germination is present in plants such as Sonneratia and Rhizophora. In these plants, the embryo which is present inside the seed grows and break the seed coat and after that, it comes out the fruit which is still attached to the plant.
