Because the paper is folded diagonally, you already know the two straight side lengths but not the diagonal. The triangle is a right triangle so you van use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the diagonal. The Pythagorean Theorem = a^2+b^2=c^2 so 8.5^2+8.5^2=144.5^2 144.5^2=12.02 The diagonal of the right triangle would then be 12.02 inches. Hope this helps!!

Pythagorean Theorem!

a^{2}+b^{2}=c^{2}
8.5^{2}*8.5^{2}= c^{2}
72.25+72.25=c^{2}
144.5=c^{2}
\sqrt{144.5}
12.02 or just 12

Find the sum of the first five terms using the geometric series formula for the sequence 1/2, -1,2,-4…
sammy [17]

The sum of the first five terms is 11/2

<h3>How to determine the sum?</h3>

The series is given as:

1/2, -1,2,-4…

Calculate the common ratio of the series using

r = -4/2

Evaluate

r = -2

The sum is then calculated as:

S_n = a\frac{1 - r^n}{1 - r}

This gives

S_n = \frac{1}{2} * \frac{(1 - (-2)^5}{1 + 2}

Evaluate

S_n = \frac{1}{2} * \frac{33)}{3}

Evaluate

S_n =\frac{11}{2}

Hence, the sum of the first five terms is 11/2

spin [16.1K]

Answer:

\frac{a}{1 +bc} = x

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, it appears that you need to solve this equation in terms of x.

Beginning with the equation a = x(1 + bc), we must isolate the 'x' variable and make an equation equivalent to 'x'. This can be done by:

a = x(1 + bc)

Divide (1 + bc) from both sides, giving you:

\frac{a}{1 +bc} = x

What is a quick way to determine which savings account will pay the most interest?
Igoryamba
I would say, the best way and the fastest way, is to go to some banks and ask them how much interests they give you... then the bank that gives you the most interest, the bank that you are looking for.
