SVEN [57.7K]
SOH,CAH, TOA so it would be TANGENT since it would be Opposite over Adjacent. Tan(15) = 9/a put Tan(15) onto your calculator it would be .267949 round that to .27 = 9/a cross multiply
a = 33.588. C is the correct answer.

A curve is given by y=(x-a)√(x-b) for x≥b, where a and b are constants, cuts the x axis at A where x=b+1. Show that the gradient
ankoles [38]

<u>Answer:</u>

A curve is given by y=(x-a)√(x-b) for x≥b. The gradient of the curve at A is 1.

<u>Solution:</u>

We need to show that the gradient of the curve at A is 1

Here given that ,

y=(x-a) \sqrt{(x-b)}  --- equation 1

Also, according to question at point A (b+1,0)

So curve at point A will, put the value of x and y

0=(b+1-a) \sqrt{(b+1-b)}

0=b+1-c --- equation 2

According to multiple rule of Differentiation,

y^{\prime}=u^{\prime} y+y^{\prime} u

so, we get

{u}^{\prime}=1

v^{\prime}=\frac{1}{2} \sqrt{(x-b)}

y^{\prime}=1 \times \sqrt{(x-b)}+(x-a) \times \frac{1}{2} \sqrt{(x-b)}

By putting value of point A and putting value of eq 2 we get

y^{\prime}=\sqrt{(b+1-b)}+(b+1-a) \times \frac{1}{2} \sqrt{(b+1-b)}

y^{\prime}=\frac{d y}{d x}=1

Hence proved that the gradient of the curve at A is 1.

I've been trying to get an answer for this all day and don't know where to begin what is the answer like I have no clue
Shtirlitz [24]

so, we have two 54x18 rectangles, so their perimeter is simply all those units added together, 54+54+54+54+18+18+18+18 = 288.

we know the circle's diameter is 1.5 times the width, well, the width is 18, so the diameter of the circle must be 1.5*18 = 27.

\bf \stackrel{\textit{circumference of a circle}}{C=d\pi }~~ \begin{cases} d=diameter\\[-0.5em] \hrulefill\\ d=27 \end{cases}\implies C=27\pi \implies C=\stackrel{\pi =3.14}{84.78} \\\\[-0.35em] ~\dotfill\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{perimeter of the rectangles}}{288}~~~~+~~~~\stackrel{\textit{perimeter of the circle}}{84.78}~~~~=~~~~372.78
