A Young's interference experiment is performed with blue-green laser light. The separation between the slits is 0.500 mm, and th

e screen is located 3.24 m from the slits. The first bright fringe is located 3.30 mm from the center of the interference pattern. What is the wavelength of the laser light?

Answer:

λ = 509 nm

Explanation:

In order to calculate the wavelength of the light you use the following formula:

y=m\frac{\lambda D}{d}   (1)

where

y: distance of the mth fringe to the central peak = 3.30 mm = 3.30*10^-3 m

m: order of the bright fringe = 1

D: distance from the slits to the screen = 3.24 m

d: distance between slits = 0.500 mm = 0.500*10^-3 m

You first solve the equation (1) for λ, and then you replace the values of the other parameters:

\lambda=\frac{dy}{mD}\\\\\lambda=\frac{(0.500*10^{-3}m)(3.30*10^{-3}m)}{(1)(3.24m)}=5.09*10^7m\\\\\lambda=509*10^{-9}m=509nm

The wavelength of the light is 509 nm

What might be happening since 1880 for average global temperatures to increase
bazaltina [42]

Answer:

The average global temperatures has increased since 1880 due to the emission of toxic gases in the atmosphere.

Explanation:

  • In average the global temperature of the earth has increased by 1 degree Celsius (2 degrees Fahrenheit). It includes the combined land and ocean's temperature.
  • The main reason for this increase in global temperature is the emission of gases like carbon dioxide, CFC's and other greenhouse gases.
  • Human activities, industrialization, modernization etc. are majorly responsible for this increment in temperature through the centuries.

Next you place the pan on a hot electric stove. While the stove is heating the pan, you use a beater to stir the water, doing 21
Masja [62]

Answer:

ΔQ =  11050.2 J

Explanation:

Assume mass of pan is 900 gm

Assuming mass of water is 100 gm

Assuming initial temperature of pan & water is Ti = 51.268 degree C

The final temperature is T_f = 77.7 degree C

The total energy required to raise temperature

E = (m_{pan}c_{pan} + m_{water} c_{water}) \Delta T

E = [(900)(0.9) + (100)(4.2)](26.44)

E = 32521.2 J

The energy transferred is given by

ΔQ = E-W

ΔQ = 32521.2 J - 21471 J

ΔQ =  11050.2 J

A light ball is dropped straight down off a ledge and hits the ground. A heavy ball is thrown straight down from the ledge, rele
Anettt [7]

Answer:

(d) I and III

Explanation:

Motion of the 1st  light ball

s = gt_1^2/2

s = v_0t_2 + gt_2^2/2

I. Since the heavier starts with an initial velocity v0, and both balls end up traveling the same distance s. From the 2 motion equation above we can conclude that their time must be different

II. Both balls are affected by the same gravitational acceleration g

III. Velocity before the impact of the light ball

v_1^2 = 2gs

And the heavy ball

v_2^2 - v_0^2 = 2gs

Since they have the same acceleration g and distance s. But the heavy ball has an initial push. It would end up with a larger speed.

You are in a car traveling an average speed of 60 km/h. the total trip is 240 km. how long does the trip take?
NemiM [27]

Time taken = Distance traveled/Average speed

Here distance traveled by the car = 240 km

Average speed of the car = 60 km/hr

So total time taken = 240/60 = 4 hours

                                                 = 240 minutes

                                                 = 14400 seconds

So the car will take 4 hours to cover 240 kilometers at an average speed of 60 km/hr.
