Why don't elements in the same period share many of the same properties?
Juliette [100K]
Thank you for posting your question here at brainly. I hope the answer will help you. Feel free to ask more questions.

They are different elements. However, most of their chemical properties are similar, because of the similar numbers of electrons in their valence shells. Their physical properties differ because of the mass contained in the atoms of <span>each element.</span>

Lecture 19 Equilibrium II Worksheet 1)The equilibrium constant, K c , is 9.8 x 10 5 for H 2 (g) + S (s) H 2 S (g). a.Find the re
Strike441 [17]

Answer:

a) Qc = 0.6338

b) Qc < Kc ⇒ the reaction proceeds to the right, towards the products.

Explanation:

  • H2(g) + S(s) ↔ H2S(g)

∴ Kc = 9.8 E5 = [H2S] / [H2]

a) reaction quotient, Q:

∴ Qc = [H2S] / [H2] = (0.483 M)/(0.762 M) = 0.6338

b) the process is not established equilibrium: Qc < Kc

⇒ The reaction evolves to the right, towards the products

DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

\Delta H for the given reaction is -2486.3 kJ

Explanation:

The given equation can be written as a combination of the following equation:

2H_{2}(g)+2F_{2}(g)\rightarrow 4HF(g)  ; \Delta H_{1}= (2\times -537kJ)=-1074 kJ

2C(s)+4F_{2}(g)\rightarrow 2CF_{4}(g)  ;  \Delta H_{2}=(2\times -680kJ)=-1360kJ

C_{2}H_{4}(g)\rightarrow 2C(s)+2H_{2}(g)  ;  \Delta H_{3}=-52.3kJ

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

C_{2}H_{4}(g)+6F_{2}(g)\rightarrow 2CF_{4}(g)+4HF(g)

\Delta H=\Delta H_{1}+\Delta H_{2}+\Delta H_{3}=(-1074-1360-52.3)kJ=-2486.3kJ

to prepare for a lab experiment, ted is making a solution that uses two types of concentrations of hcl (hydrochloric acid): 80 m
Leno4ka [110]

The concentration of the HCL in the mixed solution is 32%

Considering the First solution containing HCl,

80 ml of 50% = 80 x (50/100)

  = 80 x 0.5

  = 40 ml of HCL

Considering the second solution containing HCl,

120 ml of 80% = 120 x (20/100)

  = 120 x 0.2

  = 24 ml of HCl

So, the combined solution will have = 40+ 24

          = 64 ml of HCL

Since the combined  volume of the two solutions was = 80+120

              = 200 ml

As for finding the concentration of HCl in a solution, the required formula is to divide the volume of HCl by the combined volution of the solution.

Therefore, the  concentration of  HCl will be = 64/200

        = 0.32

Which is 32% of HCl
