Colonel John P. Stapp, USAF, participated in studying whether a jet pilot could survive emergency ejection. On March 19, 1954, h

e rode a rocket-propelled sled that moved down a track at a speed of 632 mi/h. He and the sled were safely brought to rest in 1.40 s.

Answer:

a) Deceleration = 201.76 m/s^2

b) Distance traveled = 197.68 m

Explanation:

Initial Speed = 632 mi/h

Initial Speed (in meters/second) = (632 * 1.609 * 1000) / (60 * 60) = 282.4 m/s

Time to decelerate = 1.4 seconds

a) Change in speed = Acceleration * time

-282.4 = Acceleration * 1.4

Acceleration = -201.76 m/s^2

Deceleration = 201.76 m/s^2

b) Distance traveled = average speed * time

average speed = 282.4 / 2 = 141.2 m/s

Distance traveled = 141.2 * 1.4

Distance traveled = 197.68 m

Why does a block of plastic released under water come up to the surface of water.
SCORPION-xisa [38]

A block of plastic released under water will come up to the surface of the water because the density of the plastic is less than the density of water.

What is density?

Density is the amount of mass a substance contains per its unit volume. It means the number of particles that can be packed into a unit space of that substance.

How does density determine whether an object will float or sink?

When an object is immersed in a liquid, it experiences two forces - gravitational force and an upward buoyant force called upthrust. If the density of the object is more than the density of the liquid, gravitational force will be greater than upthrust and the object will sink, but if the density of the object is less than the density of the liquid, upthrust will be greater than gravitational force and the object will float. That is why a block of plastic will come up to the surface when released under water, because it is less dense than water.

how does the presence of carbon dioxide in venus’ atmosphere cause the average surface temp on venus to be higher than the avera
soldier1979 [14.2K]
It is because carbon dioxide traps the solar radiation which then warms up the atmosphere, not allowing the radiations to get deflected back in the outer space.. that's what is happening to our own planet the greenhouse effect.. which is also increasing the GLOBAL Temp of our planet too
