The Theory of spontaneous generation was?

Biology

Answer:

The supporters of this theory stated that life did not come from outer space. Rather there was a natural spontaneous generation of the living organisms from non-living matter present on earth.

Explanation:

For example, they believed that the decayed and rotting material like mud, straw, etc. had the capacity to give rise to organisms like frogs, flies, etc. However this concept was experimentally disproved by many scientists. One of them was Louis Pasteur. Louis Pasteur by careful experimentation demonstrated that life comes only from pre-existing life. He showed that in pre-sterilized flasks, life did not come from killed yeast while in another flask open to air, new living organisms arose from killed yeast.

Why are the ventricles of the heart so much larger than the atria of the heart?
konstantin123 [22]
The ventricles are the part of the heart that are responsible for the pumping action to move blood throughout the body. Therefore, the muscles in the ventricles are much larger and thicker to do their job properly. The atrium only has to pump blood through an open valve (the tricuspid valve) into the right ventricle. There is much less resistance to this flow of blood so much less muscle is needed.

Identify the structure you are consuming when you eat each of the following vegetables. Match the words in the left column to th
Afina-wow [57]

Answer:

a. stem 1: Asparagus

b. taproot: 5. Carrot

c. lateral buds: 2. Brussels sprouts

d. modified stem: 6. Potato

e. leaf (petiole and blade): 4. Spinach

f. petiole: 3. Celery

Explanation:

A plant stem is one of the structural axes of vascular plants that holds structures such as leaves, flowers, and fruits. The stem also transports water and dissolved (organic and inorganic) nutrients between the roots and the shoots. In some plants, the stem is modified in order to carry out other functions (e.g., storage, vegetative propagation, protection, etc). Potatoes are modified stems (i.e., stem tubers) that are connected by small stem sections known as stolons, and serve as food storage organs. A taproot is a central, and dominant root from which other roots sprout, which can be used by the plant to store water and food (e.g., in carrots and turnips). Lateral buds or axillary buds are meristematic regions growing from the axils of the leaves at the intersection of the leaf and stem, below the terminal bud. Leaves are composed of the 1-blade, also known as the lamina, which is the largest part of the leaf, and 2-the petiole, which is a stalk that supports the blade and connects it to the plant stem. Celery petioles play the same functions as a plant stem by acting as transport and storage organs.
