A contractor is building the base of a circular fountain. On the blueprint, the base of the fountain has a diameter of 18 centimeters. The blueprint has a scale of three centimeters to four feet. What will be the actual area of the base of the fountain, in square feet, after it is built? Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a square foot.

Well well to get the area of the base is the same as area of circle:
pi * r^2

we know 3cm = 4ft or 4ft/3cm = 1

we have 18 cm diameter but only need radius which is 9 cm. now convert 9cm to ft using the 4ft/3cm ratio:
9cm * 4ft/3cm = 12 ft

now plif into area equation:
area = pi * (12ft)^2
area = 144 ft^2 * pi

18/3= x/4 ft
x=24 ft
then find are by doing a=pi(3.14) times radius squared
