The peripheral speed of the tooth of a 10-in.-diameter circular saw blade is 170 ft/s when the power to the saw is turned off. T

he speed of the tooth decreases at a constant rate, and the blade comes to rest in 11 s. Determine the time at which the total acceleration of the tooth is 130 ft/s2.

Answer:

10.5 s

Explanation:

Initial tangential speed, u_t=170 ft/s

Final tangential speed, v_t=0

Time in which it comes to stop, t=11 s

Diameter, d = 10 in = 0.83 ft

so, radius r = 0.415 ft

Tangential acceleration,

a_t=\frac{v_t-u_t}{t}\\= \frac{0-170ft/s}{11s}\\=-15.45ft/s^2

Total acceleration of the tooth is a=130 ft/s^2

a^2=a_t^2+a_n^2\\a_n=\sqrt{a^2-a_t^2}\\a_n=\sqrt{130^2-15.45^2}\\a_n=120.1 ft/s^2

a_n=\frac{v^2}{r}\\v^2=a_n\times r\\v=\sqrt{129.1\times 0.415 ft}=7.32 ft/s

so,

t=\frac{v-u}{a_t} \\t=\frac{7.32-170}{-15.45} = 10.5 s

A balloon is inflated from 0.0100 l to 0.400 l against an external pressure of 10.00 atm. how much work is done in joules? 101.3
Ganezh [65]
To calculate the work, we use:
W = PΔV
W = 10(0.4-0.01)
W = 3.9 L*atm
W = 3.9 * 101.3
W = 395.07 Joules

Answer:

Explanation:

Induced emf in a moving rod ( also called motional emf ) = BLV ( B is magnetic field , L is length of rod and V is velocity of rod.

given emf = .291 x 10V , B =? L = 1.11 m , V= 3.17 m/s

.291x 10⁻³ = B 1.11 x 3.17

B = .291 x 10⁻³/(1.11x3.17) =0.082 10⁻³ T teslas.=.082 militesla..

Snell's law states that sin(i) and sin(r) should be proportional, what two conditions are necessary to establish proportionality
Nikitich [7]
Snell's law is generally true only when:

1) the beam of light is monochromatic (of one single wavelength, as for example laser beams)

2) the media through which the light beam travels must be isotropic (uniform in all directions, as for example glass)

In these conditions:
sin (r) / sin (i) = n₁ / n₂ = λ₂ / <span>λ</span>₁
