To calculate the work, we use:
W = PΔV
W = 10(0.4-0.01)
W = 3.9 L*atm
W = 3.9 * 101.3
W = 395.07 Joules

The work done by the gas against the external pressure of 10.00\text{ atm} is \boxed{395.07\text{ J}}.

Further explanation:

This is a case of constant pressure expansion process. It is also called isobaric process. In an isobaric process gas does work at constant pressure.

According to first law of thermodynamics, for a process the net heat transfer to the system can be either increase the internal energy of the gas or do some work against an external force. If heat is added at constant pressure process, some heat is used in gas work against external pressure force and some of the work is used in increasing the internal energy of the gas.

Given:

Balloon is inflated from 0.0100\text{ }l-0.400\text{ }l.

{V_1} = 0.0100\,{\text{ }l}\\{V_2} = 0.400\,{\text{ }l}

External pressure is 10.00\text{ atm}

1\text{ atm}=101.3\text{ KPa}\\1\,{\text{}l} \times 1{\text{ atm}} = 101.3\,{\text{J}}

Concept:

For a reversible process work done by gas is

dW = p \cdot dV

Here, dW is the work done in a process, p is the pressure and dv is the change in the volume of gas.

Integrating the above expression for a process 1 to 2

\int_1^2 {dW}  = \int_1^2 {p \cdot dV}

If pressure is kept constant in the process 1 to 2

Net work done in the process

{W_{{\text{net}}}} = p\left( {{V_2} - {V_1}} \right)                …… (1)

Substitute 0.0100\,{\text{ }l} for {V_1}, 0.400\,{\text{ }l} for {V_2} and 10.00\text{ atm} for p in equation (1).

\begin{aligned}{W_{{\text{net}}}}&=\left( {10.00\,{\text{atm}}} \right)\left( {0.400{\kern 1pt} {\text{l}} - 0.0100\,{\text{l}}} \right)\\&=3.90\,\,{\text{l}}\cdot{\text{atm}}\\\end{aligned}

Use conversion

\begin{aligned}{W_{{\text{net}}}}&=3.90{\kern 1pt} {\kern 1pt} {\text{l}} \cdot {\text{atm}}\left( {\frac{{101.3\,{\text{J}}}}{{1\,\,{\text{l}} \cdot {\text{atm}}}}} \right)\\&=395.07\,{\text{J}}\\\end{gathered}

Thus, the work done by the gas against the external pressure of 10.00\text{ atm} is \boxed{395.07\text{ J}}.

what is the resistance of a 12m long wire having radius( 2*10 to the power - 4) and resistivity (3.14*10 to the power - 8)ohmM
Arisa [49]
R = ρl/A

Where R = Resistance in Ohms, Ω, ρ = Resistivity in Ωm, l = Length in m.

Area in m²

ρ = Resistivity = 3.14 * 10⁻⁸ Ωm,  Length l = 12m,

Area = πr² = π* (2*10⁻⁴)² m² ≈ 3.14 * (2*10⁻⁴)² m²

R = ρl/A

    ≈ 3.14 * 10⁻⁸ * 12 / (3.14 * (2*10⁻⁴)²)

     ≈ 3

Resistance, R ≈ 3 Ω

10. During 4th period we put Klaudia in a box because she was talking too much. We still heard her voice through the box so we d
Alex787 [66]

Answer: Mr. Whitmore would need 7 or more students ( 7.17) to make the box start moving and go outside

Explanation:

Given that;

friction force of ground box = 68 N

student of 7th grade = n

Whitmore can apply a force of 25 N

every other 7th grade student can apply a force of 6 N.

now

friction force = forced applied by whitmore + total force ny 7th grade student

we substitute

68 = 25 + 6n

6n = 68 - 25

6n = 43

n = 43/6

n = 7.17

Therefore Mr. Whitmore would need 7 or more students ( 7.17) to make the box start moving and go outside

The closest stars are 4 light years away from us. How far away must you be from a 854 kHz radio station with power 50.0 kW for t
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

Answer:

The distance from the radio station is 0.28 light years away.

Solution:

As per the question:

Distance, d = 4 ly

Frequency of the radio station, f = 854 kHz = 854\times 10^{3}\ Hz

Power, P = 50 kW = 50\times 10^{3}\ W

I_{p} = 1\ photon/s/m^{2}

Now,

From the relation:

P = nhf

where

n = no. of photons/second

h = Planck's constant

f = frequency

Now,

n = \frac{P}{hf} = \frac{50\times 10^{3}}{6.626\times 10^{- 34}\times 854\times 10^{3}} = 8.836\times 10^{31}\ photons/s

Area of the sphere, A = 4\pi r^{2}

Now,

Suppose the distance from the radio station be 'r' from where the intensity of the photon is 1\ photon/s/m^{2}

I_{p} = \frac{n}{A} = \frac{n}{4\pi r^{2}}

1 = \frac{8.836\times 10^{31}}{4\pi r^{2}}

r = \sqrt{\frac{8.836\times 10^{31}}{4\pi}} = 2.65\times 10^{15}\ m

Now,

We know that:

1 ly = 9.4607\times 10^{15}\ m

Thus

r = \frac{2.65\times 10^{15}}{9.4607\times 10^{15}} = 0.28\ ly

You walk into the kitchen and see a broken egg on the floor. Which of the following is an inference you can make based on this o
Over [174]
I'd say A. because an inference is a guess/estimate. You can assume that the egg rolled off the kitchen but you know that C and D are true.
