To calculate the work, we use:
W = PΔV
W = 10(0.4-0.01)
W = 3.9 L*atm
W = 3.9 * 101.3
W = 395.07 Joules

The work done by the gas against the external pressure of 10.00\text{ atm} is \boxed{395.07\text{ J}}.

Further explanation:

This is a case of constant pressure expansion process. It is also called isobaric process. In an isobaric process gas does work at constant pressure.

According to first law of thermodynamics, for a process the net heat transfer to the system can be either increase the internal energy of the gas or do some work against an external force. If heat is added at constant pressure process, some heat is used in gas work against external pressure force and some of the work is used in increasing the internal energy of the gas.

Given:

Balloon is inflated from 0.0100\text{ }l-0.400\text{ }l.

{V_1} = 0.0100\,{\text{ }l}\\{V_2} = 0.400\,{\text{ }l}

External pressure is 10.00\text{ atm}

1\text{ atm}=101.3\text{ KPa}\\1\,{\text{}l} \times 1{\text{ atm}} = 101.3\,{\text{J}}

Concept:

For a reversible process work done by gas is

dW = p \cdot dV

Here, dW is the work done in a process, p is the pressure and dv is the change in the volume of gas.

Integrating the above expression for a process 1 to 2

\int_1^2 {dW}  = \int_1^2 {p \cdot dV}

If pressure is kept constant in the process 1 to 2

Net work done in the process

{W_{{\text{net}}}} = p\left( {{V_2} - {V_1}} \right)                …… (1)

Substitute 0.0100\,{\text{ }l} for {V_1}, 0.400\,{\text{ }l} for {V_2} and 10.00\text{ atm} for p in equation (1).

\begin{aligned}{W_{{\text{net}}}}&=\left( {10.00\,{\text{atm}}} \right)\left( {0.400{\kern 1pt} {\text{l}} - 0.0100\,{\text{l}}} \right)\\&=3.90\,\,{\text{l}}\cdot{\text{atm}}\\\end{aligned}

Use conversion

\begin{aligned}{W_{{\text{net}}}}&=3.90{\kern 1pt} {\kern 1pt} {\text{l}} \cdot {\text{atm}}\left( {\frac{{101.3\,{\text{J}}}}{{1\,\,{\text{l}} \cdot {\text{atm}}}}} \right)\\&=395.07\,{\text{J}}\\\end{gathered}

Thus, the work done by the gas against the external pressure of 10.00\text{ atm} is \boxed{395.07\text{ J}}.

Drupady [299]

Answer:

a) KE = 888.26J

b) N = 294.5 turns

Explanation:

For the kinetic energy:

KE = I/2*\omega_o^2

The inertia is:

I=m/2*R^2=0.072kg.m^2

So, the kinetic energy will be:

KE = 888.26J

Now, friction force is:

Ff = μ*N = 0.80*5N = 4N

The energy balance would be:

Kf - Ko = Wf    where Kf=0;   Ko = 888.26J;  and Wf is the work done by friction force.

Wf = -Ff*d = -Ff*N*2*π*R   where N is the amount of turns it gives.

Replacing these values into the energy balance:

0-888.26=-4*N*2*π*0.12

-888.26=-0.96*π*N

N=294.5 turns

Answer: A)30V. First find the current of the circuit. I=V/R(total resistance). So I=60/120=0.5. Now to find voltage drop in R3 use ohms law as given. V(of 3)=(0.5)(60)=30V

neonofarm [45]

Answer: 405.3 minutes

Explanation: In order to explain this problem we have to use the following:

Fisrtly we calculate the volume of the wire, this is given by:

Vwire=π*r^2*L where r and L are the radius and L the length of teh wire, respectively.

Vwire=π*1.25*10^-3*0.26=1.27*10^-6 m^3

then the number of the total electrons in tthe wire volume is given by;

n° electrons in the wire=ρ*Vwire=8.4*10^28*1.27*10^-6 m^3=1.07 *10^23

Finally, considering the current in the wire equal to 4.4*10^18 electrons/s

the time consuming to extract all the electrons from the wire is given by:

t= total electrons in the wire/ current=1.067*10^23/4.4*10^18=24,318 s

equivalent to 405.3 minutes
