Thirty percent of all customers who enter a department store will make a purchase. Suppose that 6 customers enter the store and

that these customers make independent purchase decisions. a. Find the probability that exactly 5 customers make a purchase b. Find that probability that at least 3 customers make a purchase c. Find the probability that two or fewer customers make a purchase d. Find the probability that at least one customer makes a purchase. e. Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's use binomial distribution, because we are interested in find the total number of successes in a sequence of n independent experiments.

In probability, a binomial distribution is used in a Bernoulli process. That is, a sequence of experiments of n independent  trials, each asking a dichotomous question, that means it only has two answers. One answer is a success (probability: p) and the other is a failure (probability: 1-p). In this case, every customer who enters in the store is the experiment. If they make a purchase is a success event, taking into account that every purchase decision has to be independent.

P(X=x) = C(n,x)p^{x} (1-p)^{n-x}

x= total number of success

n= total number of experiments

p=probability of success on an indivual trial

C(n,x) = \frac{n!}{x!(n-x)!}

a) x= 5 ------> customers that make a purchase

n= 6 ------> total customers

p=0.3

p(X=5)= C(6,5)(0.3)^{5} (1-0.3)^{6-5} \\p(X=5)=0.102

b) At least 3 customers make a purchase. x ≥ 3

P(X\geq 3)=1-P (X=0)-P(X=1)-P(X=2)\\P(X\geq 3)=1-(C(6,0)(0.3^{0})(0.7)^{6}) - (C(6,1)(0.3^{1})(0.7)^{5}) - (C(6,2)(0.3^{2})(0.7)^{4})\\ P(X\geq 3) = 1-0.11765-0.30253-0.32414\\P(X\geq3)= 0.2557

c) At most 2 customers make a purchase. x ≤ 2

P(X\leq2) = P(X=0) + P(X=1) + P(X=2)\\P(X\leq2) = (C(6,0)(0.3^{0})(0.7)^{6}) + (C(6,1)(0.3^{1})(0.7)^{5}) + (C(6,2)(0.3^{2})(0.7)^{4})\\P(X\leq2) = 0.11765-0.30253-0.32414\\P(X\leq2)=0.7443

d)At least 1 customer makes a purchase. x ≥ 1

P(X\geq 1)=1-P(X=0)\\P(X\geq 1)= 1-C(0,6)(0.3)^{0}(0.7)^{6} \\P(X\geq 1)= 1-0.11765 = 0.8824

e)They must be kind to customers, always willing to help and give information about products clearly and honestly.

Have enough inventory and offer promotions for the purchase of more than one product

Have an agile payment system that avoids rows and delays in purchases.

Write the equation g(x) of the transformation of the parent graph f(x) = |x| translated right 5 units.
Archy [21]

Answer:

g(x) = |x-5|

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) = |x|

y = f(x + C)  C < 0 moves it right

g(x) = |x-5| moves it to the right 5 units

2. “The inverse of every function must be a function itself.” State whether you agree or disagree with the statement providing e
Jet001 [13]
Technically this is not necessarily true for all. A function has each input mapped to one output, therefore there can be two inputs that have the same output. However, when inverted, the input will have two outputs, which is not a function. For example with (1,3) (2,3) (3,4) (4,5) this is a function but switched (3,1) (3,2) ! Two inputs have the same output, which is not a function!

A set of telephone poles is stacked in a pile, 8 layers high. The top layer consists of 20 telephone
Anarel [89]

<u><em>Answer:</em></u>

D. 272 poles

<u><em>Explanation:</em></u>

<u>We are given that:</u>

The top layer has 20 poles, the next down one has 24 poles and the third one has 28 poles

<u>We can note that</u> each layer has 4 poles more that the one above it

<u>Based on this, we can get the number of poles in each layer as follows:</u>

Top layer has 20 poles

Second one has 20 + 4 = 24 poles

Third one has 24 + 4 = 28 poles

Fourth one has 28 + 4 = 32 poles

Fifth one has 32 + 4 = 36 poles

Sixth one has 36 + 4 = 40 poles

Seventh one has 40 + 4 = 44 poles

Eighth one has 44 + 4 = 48 poles

Now, we can get the total number of poles by adding the poles in all layers

<u>This is done as follows:</u>

Total number of poles = 20 + 24 + 28 + 32 + 36 + 40 + 44 + 48

Total number of poles = 272 poles

Hope this helps :)

Write the prime factorization of 6. Use exponents when appropriate and order the factors from least to greatest (for example, 2²
Gala2k [10]

Answer:

prime factorization of 6: 2x3

Step-by-step explanation:

to find the prime factorization of any number Step 1: Start by dividing the number by the first prime number 2 and continue dividing by 2 until you get a decimal or remainder. Then divide by 3, 5, 7, etc. until the only numbers left are prime numbers. Step 2: Write the number as a product of prime numbers.
