First, turn the two fractions into decimals : 7/9 = .77777 7/8 = .875

Now, all of the numbers are in common form so you can identify which is largest, etc. : .875, .77777, .7

Now put the values back to fractions : 7/8, 7/9, .7

What is the simplest form of
marusya05 [52]
Factor the numerator and factor the denominator.

\frac{x^2 + 5x - 36}{x^2 - 16} =  \frac{(x +9)(x - 4)}{(x + 4)(x - 4)} =  \frac{x+9}{x+4}

Then you divide the numerator and the denominator by the common factor to reduce the fraction.

Answer:

Step 1 :

Split the figure into 3 parts

part 1: triangle with base = 7 + 2 + 6 = 15in, height = 7in

part 2 : Rectangle with breadth = 3 + 6 + 2= 11in and length 8in

Part 3 :Rectangle with breadth 2in  and length 9in

Step 2 :

find the area of each part

Area of part 1

             \frac{1}{2}  * base * height = \frac{1}{2}*15*7 = 52.5in^{2}

Area of part 2

             length * breadth = 11*8 =88in^{2}

Area of part 3

              length * breadth = 2*9 =18in^2

Total area = 52.5 + 88 + 18 = 158.5 sqaure inches
