The difference between two numbers is 8 .if 2 is added to the bigger number the result will be three times the small number. Find the number

X - y = 8
x + 2 = 3y.....x = 3y - 2

3y - 2 - y = 8
2y = 10
y = 5

x - y = 8
x - 5 = 8
x = 8 + 5
x = 13

so x = 13 and y = 5
