A local sorority sold hot dogs and bratwursts at the spring fling picnics. The first day they sold 8 dozen hot dogs and 13 dozen

bratwursts for $316.20.The second day they sold 10 dozen hot dogs and 15 dozen bratwursts for a total of $375.00. How much did each cost? Solve this system using an inverse matrix. (Hint: It's easier to leave the dozens in the problem until the last step.)

Answer: Cost of each hot dog and bratwursts would be $1.1 and $1.35 each.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Cost of each dozen hot dogs be 'x'.

Cost of each dozen bratwursts be 'y'.

The first day they sold 8 dozen hot dogs and 13 dozen bratwursts for $316.20.

So, the equation would be

8x+13y=\$316.20

.The second day they sold 10 dozen hot dogs and 15 dozen bratwursts for a total of $375.00.

So, the equation would be

10x+15y=\$375.00\\\\2x+3y=\$75

So, the equations becomes

8x+13y=316.20--------------(2)\\\\(2x+3y=75)\times 4\\\\\implies 8x+12y=300------------(1)

So, by elimination method, we get that

8x+13y=316.20\\\\(-)8x+(-)12y=(-)300\\\\--------------\\y=\$16.20

Put the value of y in the eq(1), we get that

2x+3y=75\\\\2x+3(16.20)=75\\\\2x+48.6=75\\\\2x=75-48.60\\\\2x=26.4\\\\x=\dfrac{26.4}{2}\\\\x=\$13.2

Hence, the cost of hot dogs would be \dfrac{13.2}{12}=\$1.1

And the cost of bratwursts would be \dfrac{16.2}{12}=\$1.35

If 2x+ 3y = 55 and 4x= y+ 47, find x − y.<br> Can you please explain with some details?
balu736 [363]
4x=y+47, we can subtract 47 from both sides to get:
4x-47=y, now we know what y equals in terms of x, so we can substitute that in to the other equation:
2x+3y=55 becomes 2x+3*(4x-47)=55 which becomes:
2x+12x-141=55 which becomes 14x-141=55 and we can add 141 to both sides:
14x=196, divide 14 by both sides, we get x=14, which we can substitute back into the y=equation:
4x-47=y becomes 14*4-47=y which becomes y=9
x=14, y=9
x-y=14-9=5

A taco stand sells tacos for $3.25 each the stands expenses for the day are $210. define your variables and write an inequality
iogann1982 [59]
If we're going to use an inequality to solve this, then we'd probably be saying that 3.25 x ? >210. The 3.25 is the selling price per taco and the ? is the number of tacos that you sell. According to the equation, the number of tacos times the selling price has to be greater than 210, which are the expenses, in order to gain a profit. If we solve this, we simply divide 210 by 3.25. We will get an answer of 65. So we can conclude that if the taco business wants to have a profit, then they have to sell more than 65 tacos so that they can be able to cover their expenses.
