Answer:

(a) Angular momentum of disk is 1.343\, \frac{kg.m^{2}}{s}

(b) Angular velocity of the disk is 353\frac{rad}{s}

Explanation:

Given

Rotational inertia of the disk , I=3.8\times 10^{-3}kg.m^{2}

Torque delivered by the motor , \tau =17N.m

Torque is applied for duration , \Delta t=79ms=0.079s

(a)

Magnitude of angular momentum of the disk = Angular impulse produced by the torque

\therefore L=\tau \Delta t=17\times 0.079\frac{kg.m^{2}}{s}

=>L=1.343\, \frac{kg.m^{2}}{s}

Thus angular momentum of disk is 1.343\, \frac{kg.m^{2}}{s}

(b)

Since Angular momentum , L=I\omega

where \omega= Angular velocity of the disk

=>\omega =\frac{L}{I}=\frac{1.343}{3.8\times 10^{-3}}\frac{rad}{s}

\therefore \omega =353\frac{rad}{s}

Thus angular velocity of the disk is 353\frac{rad}{s}

Clara rushes 30m to a truck then turns and walks back. Total travel is 120s what is her average velocity?
navik [9.2K]

Taking into account the definition of velocity, Clara's average velocity is 0.5 m/s.

<h3>Definition of velocity</h3>

Velocity is a physical magnitude that relates the displacement of an object, the time it takes to make this change in position and direction. So it is considered a vector magnitude.

In other words, the velocity can be defined as the amount of space traveled per unit of time with which a body moves, considering the direction, and can be calculated using the expression:

velocity= distance traveled÷ time

<h3>Average velocity of Clara</h3>

Clara rushes 30 m to a truck then turns and walks back. Total travel is 120s. Then, you know:

  • distance traveled= 30m rushing + 30m walking back= 60 m
  • time= 120 s

Replacing in the definition of velocity:

velocity= 60 m÷ 120 s

Solving:

<u><em>velocity= 0.5 m/s</em></u>

Finally, Clara's average velocity is 0.5 m/s.

If you lose control of your vehicle and collide with a fixed object, such as a tree, at 60 m.p.h., the force of impact is the sa
My name is Ann [436]
You can compare the velocity of the car, 60 mph, with the velocity that a mass would acquire when falls from certain height.

First, convert 60 mph to m/s:

60 miles/h * 1.60 km/mile * 1000 m/km * 1h/3600s = 26.67 m/s

Second, calculate from what height a body in free fall reachs 26.67 m/s velocity when hits the floor.

free fall => Vf^2 = 2g*H => H = Vf^2 / (2g)

H = (26.67m/s)^2 / (2*9.8 m/s) = 36.2 m

If you consider that the height between the floors of a building is approximately 3.6 m, you get 36.2 m / 3.6 m/floor = 10 floors.

Then, you conclude that the force of impact is the same as driving you vehicle off a 10 story building.
