Answer: (a) cesium and bromine :CsBr_2

(b) sulfur and barium: BaS

(c) calcium and fluorine :CaF_2

Explanation:

For formation of a neutral ionic compound, the charges on cation and anion must be balanced. The cation is formed by loss of electrons by metals and anions are formed by gain of electrons by non metals.

The nomenclature of ionic compounds is given by:

1. Positive is written first.

2. The negative ion is written next and a suffix is added at the end of the negative ion. The suffix written is '-ide'.

(a) cesium and bromine: Here cesium is having an oxidation state of +1 called as Cs^{+} cation and bromine Br^{-} is an anion with oxidation state of -1. Thus they combine and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral CsBr called as cesium bromide.

(b) sulfur and barium : Here barium is having an oxidation state of +2 called as Ba^{2+} cation and sulphur S^{2-} is an anion with oxidation state of -2. Thus they combine and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral BaS. called as barium sulfide.

(c) calcium and fluorine: Here calcium is having an oxidation state of +2 called as Ca^{2+} cation and fluorine F^{-} is an anion with oxidation state of -1. Thus they combine and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral CaF_2. called as calcium fluoride.

Consider the following properties: I) The red color of rubies is due to the presence of chromium ions. II) Objects made of silve
quester [9]

Answer:

II) Objects made of silver become tarnished.

Explanation:

Physical properties are the properties which can be observed without changing identity of substance.

Chemical properties are the properties which describe how the substance changes into the different substance completely.

Boiling is an example of physical change in state of the substance. Color is also an example of physical property like boiling point and hence these are constants. The reason of the color is that the chromium ions shows certain colors as the electrons are excited due to absorption of the light. The tarnishing of the silver is an example of the chemical change which occurs due to the reaction of the silver with oxygen. This is also known as corrosion.

You have a substance and begin a set of experiments in which you break it down into other substances through chemical reactions.
a_sh-v [17]
They're elements. Elements are the simplest form of any substance that cannot be broken down by any chemical methods, including electrolysis or even heat. Examples include oxygen, hydrogen etc.

How can water and gravity work together to erode soil, sediment, and rock
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]
Ever seen a waterfall ? what do you think happens when all that water slams into the ground below ? same as when you turn a hosepipe on a flowerbed.

also, there's hydraulic cracking where water gets into cracks and freezes, splitting rocks apart.

fast moving water can carry sediment and roll rocks along the bottom. if the water slows down, it drops the rocks and heavier sediment. if it floods a field, say, then drains away, the grass will also filter smaller particles out, or the water might evaporate and leave fine sediment behind.
