Answer:

175 adults

360 senior citizens

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of senior citizens

There were a total of 535 people, so

(535-x)=total number of adults

Total receipts=$8,355

Adult payments+Senior payments=$8,355

21(535-x)+13x=$8,355

$11,235-21x+13x=$8,355

$11,235-8x=$8,355

-8x=$-2,880

x=360 senior citizens

Number of adults=535-360=175 adults

To check, just substitute...

21(175)+13(360)

3,675+4,680

Which equals.....

$8,355

If s(x)=x-7 and t(x) =4x^2+3 which expression is equivalent to (t×s)(x)
marshall27 [118]

Answer:

\large\boxed{(t\times s)(x)=4x^3-28x^2+3x-21}

Step-by-step explanation:

s(x)=x-7\\t(x)=4x^2+3\\\\(t\times s)(x)=t(x)\times s(x)\\\\\text{Substitute:}\\\\(t\times s)(x)=(4x^2+3)(x-7)\\\\\text{use FOIL:}\ (a+b)(c+d)=ac+ad+bc+bd\\\\(t\times s)(x)=(4x^2)(x)+(4x^2)(-7)+(3)(x)+(3)(-7)\\\\=4x^3-28x^2+3x-21

Suppose xy > 0. Describe the points whose coordinates are solutions to the inequality.
Elan Coil [88]

The solutions fo the inequality are all the points (x, y) that meet these 3 conditions.

  • x ≠ 0
  • y ≠ 0
  • Sign(x) =sign(y)

<h3>Which points are solutions of the inequality?</h3>

We want to find points of the form (x, y) that are solutions of the inequality:

x*y > 0

Clearly x and y must be different than zero.

So, for example if x = -1, y can be any negative number, for example y= -3

x*y > 0

(-1)*(-3) > 0

3 > 0

This is true.

Now if x  = 1, y must be positive. LEt's take y = 103, then:

x*y > 0

1*103 > 0

103 > 0

Then we have 3 conditions:

  • x ≠ 0
  • y ≠ 0
  • Sign(x) =sign(y)

The solutions fo the inequality are all the points (x, y) that meet these 3 conditions.
