Answer:

v = 6.05 m/s

Explanation:

The mass of the brick, M = 21 kg

The velocity of the brick, U = 6.1 m/s

The mass of the cart, m = 2.9 kg

The velocity of the cart, u = 0.26 m/s

The combined mass of the brick and the cart, v = ?

According to the law of conservation of linear momentum,

         Combined final momentum = sum of the initial momentum

                         (M + m)v = MU + mu

                                      v = MU + mu / M + m

                                         = 21 x 6.1 + 2.1 x 0.26 / (21 + 0.26)

                                         = 6.05 m/s

Hence, the combined velocity of the cart and the brick is, v = 6.05 m/s

A 900 kg car is traveling at 20 m/s along the road. What force must be applied to the car to stop it in a distance of 30 m2 Assu
serg [7]

Answer:

A. 6000 N

Explanation:

v²=u²+2as

0²=20²+2x30xa

-400=60a

a=-400/60

a =-6.667m/s²

f =ma

f = 900 x 6.667 = 6003N

F = 6000N

If the sun were to vanish instantly would earth immediately fly out of its orbit explain why or why not
Zanzabum
<span>Answer: No, because Einstein demonstrated that nothing can exceed the speed of light in a vacuum and for something to happen instantly over that distance would require that speed to be exceeded. If somehow the sun were to vanish, without explosive effects, an enormous gravity wave would begin travelling outward affecting the planets at the speed of light - thus taking about 8 minutes to reach earth. But that is irrelevant because the only way to remove all that matter would be total conversion of the mass to energy and that energy would totally destroy everything - after the same 8 minutes. A rock has a mass of 25kg. The acceleration due to gravity is 10m/s and the height of the rock is 42 m. Find the potential energ
alisha [4.7K]

Answer:

 The potential energy of the rock = 10.5 kN

Explanation:

 Mass of rock = 25 kg

 Acceleration due to gravity = 10 m/s²

 Height = 42 m

 Potential energy, PE = mgh, where m is the mass, g is acceleration due to gravity and h is the height.

 PE = 25 x 10 x 42 = 10500 N = 10.5 kN

 The potential energy of the rock = 10.5 kN
