You completed 100.000 m in 11.800 second

you aced out the other runner by 0.001 seconds

time taken by other runner to finish = 11.800 + 0.001 = 11.801s

speed of other runner = 100/11.801 m/s

distance covered by him in 11.8 s = 100/11.801 × 11.8 = 99.992 m

you won by = 100 - 99.992 = 0.008 meter

An airplane cruises at 850 km/h relative to the air. It is flying from Denver, Colorado, due west to Reno, Nevada, a distance of
skad [1K]

Answer:

difference in flight time= 0.3023 hour

Explanation:

The question is incomplete, but I found it in your textbook.

Spped of aircraft = 850 km/h

Opposing speed of wind = 90km/h

Hence, the net speed when it's travelling west = 850 - 90 = 760 km/hr

The distance covered = 1200km

time taken = distance/ time = 1200/ 760 = 1.5789 hours

When coming back, the speed of the wind is complementary to the speed of the aircraft so

net speed when it's coming back = 850 +90 = 940 km/hr

time taken in this instance = 1200/ 940 = 1.2765 hours

Hence, the difference in flight time= 1.5789 - 1.2765 = 0.3023 hour

A heat recovery system (HRS) is used to conserve heat from the surroundings and supply it to the Mars Rover. The HRS fluid loop
Annette [7]

Answer: Volume of Freon = 12.23.10^{3}L

Explanation: First, the temperatures have to be in the same unit, so all the tmeperatures is transformed into Kelvin:

T₁ = 192K

T₂ = \frac{5}{9}. (F - 32)+273.15

T₂ = \frac{5}{9}. (- 65 - 32)+273.15

T₂ = 219.26K.

Second, BTU is an unit of energy. It can be transformed into Joules by the relation 1BTU = 1055.06J.

Q = 1055.06 . 46.9 = 49482.314J

The letter Q represents Heat and is calculated as Q = m.Cp.ΔT, where:

m is mass of the element;

Cp is the heat capacity specific for each element;

ΔT is the difference between the final and initial temperature;

Third, it will be needed the properties of the Freon:

Freon (CF2Cl2) = 120.91g/mol; Cp = 74J/mol.K; ρ = 1.49kg/m³

Fourth, we calculate the mass of Freon necessary for the remove of 46.9BTU of energy from the system:

Q = m.Cp.ΔT

m=\frac{Q}{c(T-T_{0} )}

m = \frac{49482.314}{74(219.26-192)}

m = 18228.214g or m=18.228Kg

Fifth, using the density of Freon, Volume can be found

ρ = \frac{m}{V}

V = m / ρ

V = 18.228 / 1.49

V = 12.23m³

As SI for density is Kg/m³, the volume found is in m³.

Cubic meters is related to Liters as the following: 1m³=1000l.

So, volume of Freon = 12.23.10^{3}L

The volume of Freon needed is 12.23.10^{3}L.

An apple in a tree has a gravitational store of 8J. As it falls, it accelerates constantly until it hits the ground. What is the
Masja [62]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that on the tree the gravitational energy stored is 8J

Then, mgh = 8J.

The apple begins to fall and hit the ground, what is the maximum kinetic energy?

Using conservation of energy, as the above is about to hit the ground, the apple is at is maximum speed, and the height then is 0m, so the potential energy at the ground is zero, so all the potential of the apple at the too of the tree is converted to kinetic energy as it is about to hits the ground. Along the way to the ground, both the Kinetic energy and potential energy is conserved, it is notice that at the top of the tree, the apple has only potential energy since velocity is zero at top, and at the bottom of the tree the apple has only kinetic energy since potential energy is zero(height=0)

So,

K.E(max) = 8J
