The phase of matter that has a fixed volume and variable shape would be solids.

Air, liquid, and gas all have variable shapes. Air can be compressed and put inside of can, so the shape of it changes. Liquid can be poured and can take the shape of whatever type of container it is in. Gas is the same way and it can take any shape.

Solids don't change their shape, and gases have no fixed volume. So the answer must be the LIQUID phase.

What would be the magnitude of a
Pavlova-9 [17]

The magnitude of a velocity vector is 60 m/s.

To find the magnitude, the given values are,

x - components = 36 m/s

y - components = 48 m/s

What is magnitude?

  • The term magnitude can be defined as “ quantity ”.
  • For instance, the magnitude can be used for describing about the comparison of speeds.
  • It can also be used to explain the distance travelled by an object or to explain the amount of an object in terms of its magnitude.
  • Magnitude of the velocity vector is total value which is square root of the value.

The magnitude of the vector can be,

| a | = √ ( x² + y² )

Substituting the values of x component and y component given,

      = √ ( 36² + 48² )

      = √ ( 1296 + 2304)

      = √ 3600

      = 60 m/s

The magnitude is found to be 60 m/s.

Hence, Option B is the correct answer.

Choose the correct statement below that accurately describes the shear and normal stresses in a beam. A. Shear stresses are maxi
Scorpion4ik [409]

Answer:

A. Shear stresses are maximum at the neutral axis and normal stresses are maximum furthest from the neutral axis.

Explanation:

Normal stress :

Normal stress is defined as the stress or the restoring force that occurs on the plane when an external axial load is applied on it. For a beam the normal stress is maximum at the point furthest from the neutral axis and is zero at the neutral axis of the beam.

Shear stress :

Shear stress is a stress which occurs when the force acts on the surface of the member in a parallel direction. It changes the shape of the member. For a beam, the shear stress is maximum at the neutral axis.
