Answer: 4000 W

Explanation:

Power output is equal to the amount of work done per unit time.

Work done = Force × displacement

Here, work done = (mg) h ( gravitational potential energy)

W = (1000 N)(2.0 m) = 2000 J

Thus, power output = W/t = (2000 J) ÷ (0.5 s) =4000 J/s = 4000 W

When a power-lifter raises a 1000 N weight a distance of 2.0 m in 0.5 s, his power output is 4000 W.

Power =Force * Velocity

Velocity = Distance/Time = 2/0.5 = 4 m/s

Therefore,

P = 1000*4 =  4000 W = 4 kW

What is the driving force for (a) heat transfer, (b) electric current, and (c) fluid flow?
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer:

The driving force for (a) heat transfer is temperature difference. (b) electric current is voltage difference. (c) fluid flow is pressure or hydraulic head difference.

Explanation: (a) The driving force for heat transfer is temperature difference. Heat transfer between two mediums is possible only if the two mediums are at different temperature, the higher the temperature, the higher the heat transfer.

(b) The driving force for electric current is voltage difference. Voltage difference is defined as the potential difference in charge between two points in electrical field. For electric current to occur,the voltage must be high.

(c) The driving force for fluid flow is pressure difference or hydraulic head difference. For fluid to move upward,it requires energy.

Two particles, each of mass m, are initially at rest very far apart.Obtain an expression for their relative speed of approach at
PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

|\Delta v |=\sqrt{\frac{4Gm}{d} }

Explanation:

Consider two particles are initially at rest.

Therefore,

the kinetic energy of the particles is zero.

That initial K.E. = 0

The relative velocity with which both the particles are approaching each other is Δv and their reduced masses are

\mu= \frac{m_1m_2}{m_1+m_2}

now, since both the masses have mass m

therefore,

\mu= \frac{m^2}{2m}

= m/2

The final K.E. of the particles is

KE_{final}=\frac{1}{2}\times \mu\times \Delta v^2

Distance between two particles is d and the gravitational potential energy between them is given by

PE_{Gravitational}= \frac{Gmm}{d}

By law of conservation of energy we have

KE_{initial}+KE_{final}= PE_{gravitaional}

Now plugging the values we get

0+\frac{1}{2}\frac{m}{2}\Delta v^2= -\frac{Gmm}{d}

|\Delta v |=\sqrt{\frac{4Gm}{d} }

=\sqrt{\frac{Gm}{d} }

This the required relation between G,m and d
