A  triangle has 3 angles and they always add up to 180 degrees. If the first angle is 26, subtract 26 from 180, which is 154. If the other two angles are equal, divide 154 by two, which is 77. So the other two angles are both 77

180 = 2x + 26
-26          -26
154 = 2x
÷2      ÷2
77 = x
One of the sides is 77

Answer:  (x+2)^2+3\\\\

a = 2 and b = 3

==================================================

Explanation:

Let's expand out (x+a)^2+b to get the following:

(x+a)^2+b\\\\(x+a)(x+a)+b\\\\x(x+a)+a(x+a)+b\\\\x^2+ax+ax+a^2+b\\\\x^2+2ax+a^2+b\\\\

The x term here is 2ax

Compare this to the x term of x^2+4x+7 and we see that

2ax = 4x\\\\2a = 4\\\\a = 4/2\\\\a = 2\\\\

--------------

The constant term of x^2+2ax+a^2+b\\\\ is the a^2+b portion since it doesn't have the variable x attached to it.

Compare this with the 7 of x^2+4x+7 which is also the constant.

Equate the two items, plug in a = 2 and solve for b.

a^2+b = 7\\\\2^2+b = 7\\\\4+b = 7\\\\b = 7-4\\\\b = 3\\\\

Therefore,

x^2+4x+7 = (x+a)^2+b\\\\x^2+4x+7 = (x+2)^2+3\\\\

A student determined that the area of the segment of c shown above is Asegment = 137.71 ft2. The student's work is shown below.
ivolga24 [154]

Answer:

Option D. The student did not use the correct formula to calculate the area of the segment

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1

Find the area of the isosceles triangle

Applying the law of sines

A=\frac{1}{2}(12^{2})sin(60\°)=62.35\ ft^{2}

step 2

Find the area of the sector

The area of the sector is 1/6 of the area of the circle

so

A=\pi r^{2}/6

substitute the value

A=(3.14)(12)^{2}/6=75.36\ ft^{2}

step 3

Find the area of the segment

The area of the segment is equal to the area of sector minus the area of triangle

A=75.36\ ft^{2}-62.35\ ft^{2}=13.01\ ft^{2}

therefore

The student did not use the correct formula to calculate the area of the segment
